That's the problem with doctors. Too many of them think they are "god", and that THEIR opinion is the only one that matters.
Don't give it a rest. Keep at it till you get a diagnosis either way. Peace of mind is just as important. You need to KNOW what's causing this.
My primary doctor didn't think i had anything wrong with my heart. He "poo poo'd" it away, but after my wife pushed he sent me to a cardiologist. 6 blockages in my heart....yeah....i was just FINE.
Keep on the docs till you know for sure! Remember, they are "practicing" medicine. (You'd think by now with all that practice, they could get it right!)

Anyway.....my sister in law has MS. She had bumped her head, and her eyes went crosseyed. She couldn't get them to straighten out. She saw the doc, they ran tests, and here she had MS. It's been several years now, and she has to wear a kind of "screen" on her one side of her glasses, and her brain can block out the bad eye so she sees only one thing. She keeps active though, and even deer hunts. (And she's quite good at it! We call her "dead eye" cuase she's really a good shot)
Good luck with this, Jim.
I think one of the worst things is the not knowing. Once you do know, you can then learn how to cope with it.
Keep us informed on how it's going!

Just keep doing what you are doing Jim. Keep after them till you get the diagnosis.
What you have gone through with your son has i'm sure helped you learn how to cope with horrible news. It doesn't make it easier though. You probably just have better coping skills because of it.

I dont get it how the one doc can say - he sees the lesions and understands why they say ms and yet you have these symptoms ...

Let me tell you something I learned a longgg time ago ...
if you have a condition that isnt easily treated you need to become a master of your condition ... YOU DO - dont rely on others for your best interest in regards to your health.

And MS isnt some little thing you can just leave to the doctors to help you and take your best interests at heart ...

like the above peeps said - its called practice; a diagnosis is a best guess thats it. If the dude didnt think it was MS what did he say is the cause of the lesions and your symptoms?

- btw the web is Filled with info about all sorts of things; including MS ... take everything you read here with a grain of salt (including what I said here).

IMO keep digging and digging until you either cure youself or you are satisfied you have done all You can for yourself.
And Never give up

They 2nd doc says maybe vitamin b deficiency, as that will cause lot of same things..

But he doesnt think the lesions are lesions..he dismissed the ONE ( he never said anything of the other 2) as just normal in the brain..

My sister in law who used to head maternity ward at a local hospital says trust radiologist to interpret the MRI correctly and not the doctors..

thats why there is a report from a radiologist to the doctors, they have the training to interpret the MRI

RIGHT!

I remember getting tests for my gall bladder about 15 years ago. The Dr's nurse called our house and told my wife that my tests were messed up. I needed to not drink alcohol for a month then come back and get a new blood test. My wife told the nurse that I do not drink. There is no alcohol in my blood stream to mess up the tests. After arguing with my wife for about 5 minutes she put my wife on hold to check with the Dr, came back and repeated the same thing.
With in a week I was having my gall bladder removed. We switched Drs.

initially, about 45 minutes. This guy deals with MS patients every day, so he will know right away. He may film you if you have issues walking. the exam is similar to a drunk driving assessment. he'll watch you walk frontwards, backwards, test reflexes, make you stand and sit etc...

I originally took myself and my dad to see Dr. Kahtri. He examined us, we had MRI's, muscle biopsy, another type of nuero-muscular test where they shock the muscles in your arm, blood tests, and a spinal tap.

Honestly, the whole thing took over a year.

He is very experienced, and serious. A spinal tap can give you a positive result. I just went through a muscle biopsy, the shock test. My dad went through the MRI, and spinal tap.

My pops was a welder for 35 years, he was part of a lawsuit that was trying to prove welders were experiencing parkinson symptoms.

that's how we ended up at St Lukes. My dad was really pissed when DR Kahtri did not agree his issues were caused by welding fumes.

he never went back.

if you see him, and he thinks you have MS, be prepared for a spinal tap.

Honestly, its up to you if you absolutely must have a tag on your disorder.

watch out. you will have a ton of drugs thrown at you like you are a guinea pig. Some of the side effects of the drugs are worse than the effects of the disease.

I went through botox shots to help with range of motion.

if you see dr. kahtri, and he sets you up for a spinal tap, you know what he is thinking, b/c that is the most proper way to test for the disease. something about the fluid in the spinal column.

good luck

DH they are telling me to go see your guy... Suite 610?

They didnt agree with how last guy handled me at all

Waiting for them to call me..

I am finding out that the guy who read my mri and who typed the report is a Neuroradiologist someone who has up to 2 years more training after being a certified radiologist

So how can that guy make a mistake on something he is trained to look for? The neurologist said he was wrong..

I know everyone makes mistakes but to make such a HUGE life changing error is pretty bad..This isnt a broken hand we are talking about

Well, as sucky as that 2nd doc sounded, I'm still going to hope he's right. But in any event, hope you get an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment.
