I see five? laptops and about 15? folks, so maybe laptops weren't needed. Maybe they collaborated into a small room to maintain secrecy?
Perhaps the laptops where made available for them to continue doing business while they waited for the attack to begin?

Maybe the laptop screens have polarized filters on them that prevent viewing from an oblique angle.
