You know how bikers' have their 1%er designation...that only 1 % of bikers are true outlaws?? Well, I am now a 10%er....as in one who recently joined the masses of the 10% who are out of work!!

Just got my walking papers yesterday, and will meet early next week after a severance package has been formulated.

Having been in the sales/marketing game for 26 years, I am thinking there may be dramatic change to my career path....possibly something in healthcare that I can get into entry level and work my way up from there.

That sucks, man. But I can relate. I got laid off (very unexpectedly) last March. I'd been with the company for 5 years, and I'd spent the last six months working 50 hours a week writing an equipment guide for the Navy. They let me go two weeks after the book was done (and two weeks before I was due for a raise). But by the middle of April I'd gotten hired on at a great company, doing a similar (but better) job, making more money than I was before.

Some clouds really do have a silver lining. Best of luck to ya!

Dig.. first it sucks that after 26 years in the game you are found searching for the next direction in your working career.

However as noted.. sometimes things work out for the best.

Hopefully the severance package ties you over until you can sort things out direction wise.

Sales and marketing is something I had always had a passion for....but I have noticed that enthusiasm slipping in recent years. I was already exploring what I might like to do. Something that provides satisfaction from helping others, and some modicum of stability and portability.

Now, I have had the moment thrust upon me, and must chart my new course. I will keep you all abreast, and thanks for the well wishes!

Sorry to hear this. You need to wear a SB XLV jersey to your job interview. Actually you should start your own company make huge profits and then buy out the company you use to work for.
