Another thing i keep hearing about Walker......he's giving tax breaks to big corporations!!!
Now.....lets look a little deeper on that.
Question: How many big companies have left Wisconsin, because they can get tax breaks in other states? So, what happens when these companies leave?
Yup.......they take thousands of jobs with them.
Seems to me the democrats never think these kinds of things through. it seems so simple to me though.
What it comes down to is, you can't have it both ways. Tax the hell out of companys, then complain there are no jobs here.
Another of my complaints........when gas was going sky high before (you know, when Bush was prez) all we kept seeing was how it was his fault. He was in bed with the big oil guys. Now the prices are getting up to the same levels, and what do we hear about? Not once have i heard Obama being blamed.
Walker is trying to make Wisconsin live within it's means. He's not attacking the middle class. He's trying to make the whole state finacially responsible. I have paid school tax my whole life, yet i never had any kids. Yet i paid for it anyways. If schools have to drop extra things to live within a realistic budget, so be it. After all, isn't school supposed to be about teaching kids? Yes, the music, sports, and othe things are nice. But they are NOT necessary for an education.
Private schools run by churches have to scale back BIG time on activities and teacher pay. But they do it, AND they do a much better job at teaching the kids.

Oh yeah, to countries that pay a FEW bucks a day.

The corporations that are left in this country are sitting on piles of money and aren't hiring in hopes of getting more POLITICIANS like your nazi governor elected so they can recieve more corporate WELFARE.
The oil companies are getting billions of dollars a year in tax breaks , while they
make record profits every quarter, and by making those record profits are making any economic recovery a hard row to hoe because their high gas prices give us middle class citizens less money to spend on anything other than their overpriced product.

To make my thoughts short, it is my belief that the republicans have a 2 item agenda, and that is to make the rich richer and to destroy the middle class. anyting else they espouse is merely window dressing to draw votes from people who really can't see the forest for the trees.
In my opinion anybody who makes less than a half million dollars a year and votes republican is voting AGAINST themselves.

The middle class just gets shit on in the process, and in this particular instance, predominantly middle class public workers.

A lot of people in this state like to hunt and fish too so someone is managing those resources - but I guess they all need to "justify their existence" as well.

You know who some of the highest, if not the highest paid public workers are? The numbnuts you're defending! I thought I saw in a pvs. post that Fitzgerald is making over 200k per year. The WSJ reported all of Walker's new secretarial appointees (e.g. DNR) were making in excess of 100k!

You're paying $250k PER YEAR for your boy Scott to live in a mansion on Lake Mendota. Justify that!

Besides, he wasn't even talking about teachers, pretty sure he was referring to union leaders (who happen to get quite a bit of money, much like that Scott Walker you hate so much), school administrators making outrageous sums.

How exactly haven't they worked? Define 'worked'. See, to me, they HAVE worked. The rich, in Bush Jr's era(2004-6, I believe), the top 1% in income earners attribute 36.9% of total income taxes. The top 5% of income earners have paid 57.1% of income taxes. Conversely, the bottom 50% of income earners only have paid 3.3%.

Those corporations and businesses that move their OPERATIONS to other countries. Where labor is cheap (thus, very weakly taxed). Yeah, sure, they get tax breaks.. but because their costs of running the operations is way down, they have the money. Taxing them more isn't going to bring more jobs to the US.

I re-read veg-o-matic's post and I think you're right that he was referring to unions. I had a knee jerk response because he quoted part of my comment that pertained to middle class.

I mistook his statement to say a lot of public workers are basically lazy overcompensated bums and was defending the oft-overlooked job and service they provide.

I never quantified how much the school lunch ladies of the world do or should make, nor was I trying to get into deceptively titling positions. I'm also not exactly defending union reps - as I've said throughout this thread, in a nutshell I see them as a, dare I say, 'necessary' evil.

I still don't understand the "republicans only want to make the rich richer" line i hear all the time.
Please tell me......why is the huge majority of rich people, you know, like the "hollywood" people, some of the richest in the world? And yes, if you check, the huge majority of them are DEMOCRATS.
How about guys like AL Gore? You know, Mr. "Global Warming"? I don't see thsoe people offering to give some money to the lower middle class bastards like ME.
Do the "rich get richer"? Sometimes, yes. And alot of the time it's by their own hard work. Yet, as was stated, they pay the highest percentage of taxes.
It would be easy for me to sit back and join the throngs of people that want "big brother" to take care of them.
The people fighting the most are the public workers that have the most to lose. And most of them DO make alot more then poor bastards like me and my wife. Of COURSE they want to paint Walker as "Hitler". Cause they don't want the "gravy train" they are so used to to run out of THEIR supply of gravy.
Yes, public workers deserve their fair share of wages/benefits. That's just it though, FAIR SHARE.
I just sat down and figured out what my wife makes per hour on her job. After taxes, insurance deductions and the like, it's 8 bucks an hour. And she's been working her ass off at the company for 17 years. And NO pension. NO health insurance after she no longer works there. Is THAT fair? How about the dems giving HER 50 grand a year to live on after she retires? Which she probably will never even get to do.
Fair wages and benefits should be had by all. Even the public workers.
That's my belief at least.
Again, the state is spending WAY more then it takes in every year. How do they "stop the bleeding" in any other way? Raise the lower/middle class taxes to 75%? Or make cuts that SHOULD have never been needed in the first place if greedy people hadn't taken advantage of the system in the first place?
