Cowboys hire WR coach Robinson

Posted by Mike Spofford on February 11, 2011 5:49 pm

The Dallas Cowboys have hired Jimmy Robinson as their new wide receivers coach. Robinson held that same position with the Packers for the past five seasons.

Dallas will be Robinsons sixth NFL franchise in a pro coaching career that has spanned more than two decades. He also coached wide receivers for Atlanta (1990-93), Indianapolis (1994-97), the N.Y. Giants (1998-2003) and New Orleans (2004-05) before coming to Green Bay (2006-10).

Robinsons ties to Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett stem from his time with the Giants. Garrett was the teams backup quarterback during part of that time period.

While with Green Bay, Robinson saw two of his receivers make the NFCs Pro Bowl roster. Donald Driver was selected in both 2006 and 2007, and Greg Jennings was selected this year, though he didnt play in the game because the Packers advanced to the Super Bowl.

Robinson played WR for six seasons with three different teams (1976-81). He played in college at Georgia Tech, where he is a member of the schools hall of fame.

Could be. I read somewhere that GB is going to do a better job of taking care of their coaches than other teams if there is a lockout.

Donald Driver will, reportedly, be our next WR coach. He is doubling as player and coach this season. (per OSN )

Martha Careful (7h) : WINNING IT, not someone else losing it. The best victory though was re-uniting with his wife
Martha Careful (7h) : The manner in which he won it was just amazing and wonderful. First blowing the lead then getting back, then blowing it. But ultimately

Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : If they knew about it or not
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : I don't recall that he did which is why I asked.
Zero2Cool (10-Apr) : Guessing they probably knew. Did he have cast or something on?
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : Did they know that at the time or was that something the realized afterwards?

Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : Spotting ball isn't changing, only measuring distance is, Which wasn't the issue.
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : The spotting of the ball IS the issue. Not the chain gang.
Mucky Tundra (2-Apr) : Will there be a tracker on the ball or something?
Zero2Cool (1-Apr) : uh oh
Martha Careful (1-Apr) : Too bad camera's can't spot the ball as well.
Mucky Tundra (1-Apr) : So will the chain gang be gone completely or will they still be around as a backup or whatever?
Zero2Cool (1-Apr) : The method for measuring first downs in the NFL will switch from chain gangs to camera-based technology in 2025, the league announced.
Martha Careful (1-Apr) : A big step in the right direction. Just put in the college system is very very good.
Zero2Cool (1-Apr) : NFL has passed a rule that allows both teams to possess the ball in OT during the regular season
Zero2Cool (1-Apr) : Touchbacks on kickoffs will now bring the ball to the 35-yard line.
