The Packers did talk, it was just a footnote after the player signed and got very little to no attention. I do think having it publicized that we are talking is an attractive sign to free agents. It kind says, hey, they do wanna sign people, whereas the hush-hush Ted Thompson approach left everyone believing we don't want free agents as the only indication of a free agent being talked to was if they were signed. Remember, Julius Peppers had a tour and everything and no one knew until VOILA, he signed. I struggle to believe Peppers was the only player to fly under the radar with a tour and talks.
