I knew that this game was going to come down to special teams. Masthay played his best game I've seen all year. I was highly critical about him losing the Redskins game for us, but he has proven his worth the past two months.

I hope he has a long successful career in Green Bay.

Not just the Redskins game. You could also argue that he lost that first Bears game with his shoddy punting in the first half of the season. He needed to do a lot to make up for it. And amazingly, he has!

Can we also give some credit on our special teams coach or it's 100% Masthay that just elevated the game.

Props to Masthay. His kicks were great and the coverage was even better. As much as I cringe seeing Bush play defense sometimes, I am filled with joy watching him streak down the field on a punt.

Another special teams guy who has stepped it up recently is Jarrett Bush. He and Masthay have almost been playing kick and catch with Bush somehow able to get round blockers and down the ball frequently inside the 20.

Bush is now really a full time special teamer and doing a great job.

With Masthay on fire it will be nice to have an offseason without a punting duel to follow. I suspect they won't bring in any competition for him and let our two kickers do their thing (assuming they re-sign Crosby who is out of contract I believe).

Masthay had an awesome game against the Bears at Lambeau as well.

Yeah, why is this happening all of a sudden? It almost never used to happen. It's like Bush wasn't even blocked on those plays. Maybe Masthay is getting great hang time. You know things are going well when Jarrett Bush elevates his game.

Kevin Greene gets everyone to step up after he puts on his rape face. He did that after the Patriots game.

Mucky Tundra (30-Jan) : Now that's a thought, maybe they're looking at the college ranks? Maybe not head coaches but DC/assistant DCs with league experience?
beast (30-Jan) : College Coaches wouldn't want that publicly, as it would hurt recruiting and they might not get the job.
beast (30-Jan) : I thought they were supposed to publicly announce them, at least the NFL ones. Hafley was from college, so I believe different rules.
Mucky Tundra (30-Jan) : Who knows who they're interviewing? I mean, nobody knew about Hafley and then out of nowhere he was hired
beast (30-Jan) : I wonder what's taking so long with hiring a DL coach, 2 of the 3 known to interview have already been hired elsewhere.

Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Still HC positions available out there. I wonder if Hafley pops up for one
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Trent Baalke is out as the Jaguars GM.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Jeff Hafley would have been a better choice, fortunately they don't know that. Someone will figure that out next off season
