Report: Favre to Be Fined Over Sterger Incident

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell is expected to fine, but not suspend, Minnesota Vikings quarterback Brett Favre for his propositioning of former Jets employee Jenn Sterger, FOX Sports' Jay Glazer reported Wednesday.

The official announcement is expected Wednesday or Thursday.

Source: Brett Favre findings soon

The NFL will announce a decision in the Brett Favre/Jenn Sterger case within the next 48 hours, a person familiar with the case told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

Favre, currently with the Vikings, is not expected to be suspended, but he will be disciplined, according to the source.

The league has been investigating allegations that Favre sent inappropriate photos and phone messages to Sterger in 2008, when he was the quarterback for the New York Jets and she was a game hostess for the team.

Sterger's manager, Phil Reese, has said his client would like the league to "implement a program" to prevent unwanted advances similar to those she is alleging Favre made.

Reese said Sterger wants the league to discipline Favre before his career ends. "It's not a money story," Reese said, adding his client's goal is some acknowledgment that Favre was in the wrong.

Favre has said this season will be his last.

The Vikings, who have been eliminated from playoff contention, play at Detroit Sunday in their final game of the season. Favre missed Tuesday night's game against the Eagles with concussion-related symptoms. His status for the game against the Lions is unclear.

Prediction:

The amount of the fine will be about as much as the latest "uniform violation" fine.

ok...i was wrong about the amount of the fine.

But the "for not cooperating" rationale is definitely a corp trying to have cake and eat it, too.

They can say "we disciplined him" and so reduce criticism that they didn't take the harassment claim seriously.

And at the same time, they don't admit any wrongdoing about "environment of harassment" (I can't remember the exact phrase -- the one describing the second kind of harassment, and the one that can open up big civil liability for an employer.)

I smell the controlling hands of the NFL's legal and PR departments all over this. Revealing Goodell to be nothing more than a corporate tool. Again.

If Brett is making $16 million this year, that's $1 million a game, right? Then $250,000 a quarter. Then about $16,666 per minute of the game. So he'll have that paid off in 3 minutes?

Yes...but think of all the hits he had to take in 3 minutes behind the Viking offensive line. Perhaps they thought he had been punished enough?

OH!!! WADE!!!! SNAP!!!!!!! +1 for that comment!!! LOL!

50 grand for Brett......pocket change.
Let's see.....if it was anyone else, who doesn't think it would have been handled at least 2 months ago, and would have ended up with a suspension?

He got off with a slap, and a 'wink wink".
The commish is a weasel.

Didn't the NFL know he didn't cooperate when they interviewed him over two months ago?

Yes, they knew.
I think they wanted to make sure he was done playing before the "slapping of the hand" took place.
Had the Vikings made the playoffs, i bet nothing would have been done yet.

dfosterf (4-May) : Google it. Make sure to tack NFL on it or you will get the military meaning
Zero2Cool (4-May) : S2?
beast (4-May) : Seems like the S2 has a love/hate relationship with professional scouts.
beast (4-May) : In theory, the S2 test how quickly a QBs brain can solve game like issues and how quickly they can do it.
dfosterf (4-May) : Are you gentlemen and at least one lady familiar with the S2 cognition
Zero2Cool (4-May) : Maybe there isn't an issue.
beast (4-May) : NFL really needs to fix their position labeling issue, but I don't think they care
