What's your point? I've never said this season would be a failure if we don't make the Super Bowl. Hell, last year I was one of the people scoffing at the notion (expressed by many people on this site) that Mike McCarthy and Ted Thompson "had" to win a playoff game or they should be out.

We also ALMOST beat the Lions with a backup QB.

There were 23 seconds on the clock, musccy. They had no timeouts left. How much does it really matter if it's fourth down or first? Getting any playoff whatsoever gives the team a better chance than standing around waiting for a playcall.

I'm no fan of Favre or Manning (and yes, I know that situation is different because Manning calls his own plays), but there's no way either of them would have hung around waiting for a playcall. They would have just gotten the ball off and seen what happened. Played a little sandlot.

As I've said before, so I'll say again. Overall I was really pleased with McCarthy's playcalling this game. It's his disconcerting tendency to freeze in pivotal moments that wears on me.

Also, Sanchez and Cutler put up 10 points COMBINED against this same team. But lets disregard that, and how effective a QB in his 1st ever start was against said team...lets just focus on the questionable execution of 1 play by someone who had NEVER executed a live 2 minute drill in the NFL and define McCarthy's coaching competence based on that, and completely ignore that Flynn and McCarthy outgained NE 369 - 249, held the ball 20 more minutes, debatably outshined a HOF QB at his house. CLEARLY, Mike is an incompetent boob!

Thank God I'm not on a NYG board today, or even worse, a Pittsburgh board when 2 time SB winner Big Ben can't win with 2 tries inside of the 10 in the last seconds of the game. If Mike deserves this criticism for being so ineffective at coaching up virtual rookies, what must the Pitt press be saying about Tomlin's ability to "coach up" probowl vets who can't get it done in crunch time?

I put the lose squarely on the special teams and the wussy armed tackling shown by Shields and Peprah. This isn't tag football guys. Average to good runners will break arm tackles up high almost every time. How the hell do you let a lineman run 71 yards with a kickoff?

Squarely on the special teams. Don't fire MM....get rid of the special teams coach.

Flynn did a great job. Proved he is an extremely good backup QB.

23 seconds was when Driver was tackled, not when they were lined up. If you watch the replay, the team was at the line at about 16 seconds, theoretically could have snapped at about 14 seconds.

So you complete a pass - you're at 10-11 seconds? If you're lucky you spike and get 1 more crack.

This is all assuming you have a multi-year starting vet running the show and not the first-ever start of a back up qb who doesn't see many 2 minute drills in pactice.

We also seem to ignore that they DID get a play off, and the offensive line couldn't hold up against a 3 man rush...the Packers had an opportunity to win the game despite the confussion.

Easy way to settle the Musccy and Bang. The one saying describes it all.

Great teams find a way to win when they have been outplayed, average and bad teams find a way to lose when they dominated a game
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

Some people just don't get it. Anybody that didn't see Mike McCarthy outcoached his opponent yesterday is just whinning. His game planning is what even gave the team a thread of hope last night and his mentoring of Flynn didn't hurt.

Flynn was limited, yes. He doesn't have the two-minute drill down to a science and didn't get rid of the ball quick enough on the blitz. It was the kids first start for crying out loud and to sit here and say McCarthy should be fired is totally rediculous.

This coaching staff has has put this team in a position to win every single game they have played this year. Now everything hasn't gone exactly right but if you look at what has happened in these losses it comes down to PLAYER EXECUTION and NOT the GAME PLAN or the PREPARATATION.

We had four passes droppen last night, Woodson dropped a sure INT and we could have had two others, and, ST's lets a frigging OG return a KO further than any in NFL HISTORY.

Now you tell me what part of any of that had to do with how well McCarthy had this team ready to play this game? You bitch at McCarthy for the TO's at the end of the game, well, Flynn was not ABLE to handle moving the team quickly enough in that situation. He had a WEEK to get as ready as he could to start the game and there are QB's that can't run a two-minute that have been starting for a couple of years.

This was NOT the position McCarthy wanted Flynn to be in. Unfortunately he made one costly throw and ST's puked on one very ugly play and so it came down to that.

I'll throw my name in the hat stating McCarthy outcoached the coach that seldom ever happens to and unquestionably had the game plan and the team prepared and in position to win against a team that very rarely ever loses at home. Bravo McCarthy!

I agree, Hazer. The Packers have found ways to win and lose this year...but unless there are 31 other teams with 14-0 records right now, it means that other teams have found ways to lose as well. Tampa, NO, and especially the Steelers and Giants found ways to lose this weekend as well.

Who amongst us does not envy where the Pats are right now, but did they not lay some eggs against Cleveland and the Jets during the year?

An injury riddled Packers squad has both won and lost close games to both good and bad teams this year...JUST LIKE EVERYBODY ELSE IN THE NFL. Despite virtually unprecedented injury setbacks, the Packers control their own destiny going into the playoffs, something half the league currently can't say, yet we want to fire McCarthy.

I don't know who you're ranting at, warhawk, but I've said repeatedly I don't blame McCarthy for this loss. That doesn't mean I think his feet should be exempt from the fire for that last sequence.

The run defense was stalwart. The pass defense was good, until Capers backed off. I can't even figure out why he did it. It wasn't like Belichick really tested the DBs in any significant way. They had the Patriots' offense effectively bottled up.
