I grew up in WI., 4th of 6 generations of Packer fans. Bart Star walked me across the street before practice when I was a kid. He said "Son we don't want to get hit by a car before practice".

Ha, yeah living in enemy territory definitely increases the hardcore fandom. Peter and I are from North Dakota (Vikings territory for sure), and I went to college in Moorhead MN, and just graduated this spring from Luther Seminary, which is in St. Paul. It's been a wild ride. It makes it fun though.

Funny little side note: the day that the Vikings signed Brett Favre was the day after my nephew, bozz's child, was born. We were listening to ESPN in his wife's room when we heard it lol. It was all we could do to not scream the F word.

So many here grew up with Brett as their idol.

Some of us grew up with Vince, Bart and co.

I watched that documentary last night on HBO, and at the end, old men welled-up when reflecting upon Vince's death.

So did I. 40 years ago the man passed, and it still has an impact.

It was like revisiting a large piece of my youth- watching that...

Why do we love the Packers? My generation? - And from Wisconsin?

In the vernacular of the Johnny-come-lately's...

Child, please.

Inheritance. I grew up on the Michigan-Wisconsin border, 100 miles north of Green Bay (500 miles from Detroit) and my grandfather was a season ticket holder and attended virtually every game in the 60s and 70s and well into the 80s.

Michigan's Upper Peninsula is Packer country. We get the Green Bay TV stations, and Green Bay and Appleton are popular destinations for big-time shopping trips. There are a lot of Lions fans, but they are clearly outnumbered.

Central IL here, fell in love with them spending winters around St. Germain. Admired how the fans were behind them no matter what. Then I fell in love with how Favre played the game in the 90's. Call in infatuation. 8O Since then have grown to respect (much like how love should work) the organization and their history. Look forward to the years to come. 😃 Cheers!

I grew up a Packer fan in Viking country with guys like David Whitehurst at quarterback and 4-12 seasons. My Dad was originally from Wisconsin and beat loving the Packers into my brother and me - kind of like how Joe Jackson beat his kids into being millionaires.

As for loving my wife, well I thought I was marrying a nymphomaniac. Turns out she was only after my love juices. But because she gave me 3 beautiful daughters, I've forgiven her and together we've built ourselves a pretty wonderful familty.

I intend on paying the Packer love forward to my kids, but I'll have any easier time cause the Packers don't suck ass anymore like they did for the 15 years I was a kid.

The Joe Jackson comment. LOL.

Also, I hope I see you around Bismarck sometime with your wife and I'll say "so this is the nympho?" LOL.

It is a lot easier to like a team when they are doing good. You don't see many people jumping on the Carolina bandwagon these days.

That does help, doesn't it? I remember Whitehurst and Jerry Tagge and Scott Hunter. I kind of resisted the Packers when I was a kid--not an open rebellion, but they were just such a boring team. Two handoffs up the middle, an incomplete pass, and then punt. And as a kid, it was hard to appreciate the glory years from right around the time I was born. Kids don't want to hear how much better things were before they came along. They want things to be good right now.
