Ryan Grant 6-1, 215 40 Time: 4.56
James Starks 6-2, 218 40 Time: 4.50

Very interesting. Didn't he look smaller than Grant? I'm not complaining. When a guy looks smaller than he really is, that often means that he is a very good athlete. That's my own theory, so take it for what it's worth.

Hey, if Starks is a step up from Grant, then we're winning the SB next year. Our O will be unstoppable.

I'm just saying let's give some love to Grant. He's been a top 10 RB 3 years in a row.

No, you just said he's a "plodder," he lacks vision, quickness, and cutting ability, he's a bad blocker, and he can't catch the ball consistently. You also implied that he would cop an attitude if he lost his starting job. Come to think of it, you would've been a lot more charitable if you had just said he sucks.

LMAO.. now we are cutting Grant because Starks ran the ball like an NFL back.. seriously we have been deprived of a good running attack this season if we have come to this.

Listen.. I was impressed with his power and instincts.. I liked his North South style.. but now we are cutting a 1400 yard back after an afternoon.

To Starks specifically.. this is exactly what we needed and he supplied more than I expected.

Now.. I want to see us repeat this type of effort.. 3 & Short.. and the overall effectiveness to the run.. next week with the Big Rook on the line for Detroit..

Thumbs up for Starks/Kuhn and that offensive line today for their efforts.

Congrats kid on the splash into the NFL.

I'll admit that I was one of the ones who said we can do w/out Grant.

Bjack seems to be OK at blocking, and is good in the open field at making guys miss, but just sucks as an every down runner.

Night and day difference with Starks in though. I'm hoping he can stay healthy because this seems to be the only missing cog!

He's had production. I don't think anyone denies he consistently leaves yards on the field.

You need two capable running backs on any roster.. as nicks and dings happen.. so far.. Bjack has proven he isn't a every down back, Nance has shown little and Starks had a nice debut.. I think we will be holding off dropping Grant over the course of an afternoon or even the remaining games this season.

Last year it was Bjack should be the starter over Grant.. we got that wish and it flopped... in epic fashion.

I think Grant is safe. 😉

Really, any reference towards what to do with Grant next year is laughable. Yes, the kid looked good in his debut, and the 6th round title has nothing to do with his potential and everything to do with his injury. But seriously, let's let the kid play some football before we cut a very solid RB a lot of teams would love to have.
If Starks continues to develop and impress, I see Grant coming into TC next year with one hell of a chip on his shoulder. We all know Jackson was never an every down back (and he wasn't drafted for that) but he has a great skill set for what you look for in a 3rd down guy, he is good in blitz pickup and has sure hands.
If anyone is the odd man out here it's Hall. Kuhn moves back to his original position but brings some goal line threat with him. Quinn stays for power running and we keep 3 RB's like most teams.
Have Grant and Starks battle it out and have a snap count throughout the season, more and more teams are sharing the backfield, keeps teams more honest towards play selection and can put years on a RB's career.

All in all, at the end of the day IF we start next year with 2 solid every down backs and a 3rd down specialist, while getting our best full back back on the field, thats one hell of a 6th round pick.
We are born naked, wet and hungry. Then things get worse.

I love to see that in his first game, he gets 18 carries. I honestly thought they'd give him 5 carries, tops. He delivered, too. Just over 4 per carry in his first game in 2 years, couldn't have asked for more. Excited to see how he does next week against a stout Detroit D-line.
