I think more important than 40 yd dash time is their time to full speed. Adrian Peterson takes negative time to reach full speed.

Guys run 10 yard dashes a lot more than they run 40 in the NFL mainly because you have to run 10 before you can run 40... and how often do guys run 40 yards? other than maybe WR/CB/S...
The 10 yard time is about quickness... which quickness plus physicness plus football smarts usually equals good football player... maybe not great but good...
