I agree with Porky on seemingly every one of his posts that I happen to read. With this particular post, I feel that he offers a great deal of levity to a conversation offers some much needed insight and calm wisdom. His words here will no doubt calm the general attitude held by the consensus of PackersHome's illustrious group of contributors (and non-contributors like that dickwad peteralan71 who choose to only post something as witless as +1). For his contributions I am awarding Porky88 with a plus one to his applause count and I'm mentioning it here because I'd like him to know that I appreciate what he's contributed, and am hoping that he continues to contribute such wisdom and general football knowledge to our discussions for years to come.

Well, shit, I guess I can't do that.

I've seen it about 10 times now, and I get repeatedly upset when watching the Gonzales TD where Collins just watches him cut in and catch the ball. Completely blown coverage and no attempt to rectify it. Reminds me of last year against the Vikings when Al Harris had a blown coverage that resulted in a TD, and was throwing his arms up while the ball was still in the air. Giving up on plays cannot happen.

All I learned yesterday is that Atlanta has no vertical game. I was amazed halftime adjustments were not made to take away the underneath. Their offensive line is too good to blitz so you make them throw short and do a better job tackling next time.

Our offense screwed the pooch again in the red zone. I have a real problem with play selection down there. Also Brandon Jackson should be 3rd down back only. Play the kid we stole from Atlanta's practice squad. If Clifton and Colledge could ever run block we couldn't be stopped.

We have now lost 4 games by 12 points total, 3 of which we got screwed by refs and this last one, we stepped on our own dicks. I feel good about our chances with our without Finley and Grant.

Dakota - I'd feel better with Finley as twice we were stopped at 4th and 1 and once we fumbled on their 1 yard line. Finley would be da bomb for 1 yard completions. I think if we're missing anyone, it's him.

Finley was clutch in any 3rd down situation. We definitely miss him for the conversions. Some argue that it was a good thing when he went down because it forced Rodgers to look at all the receivers, and I agreed, but all in all we would be better with him in the lineup, without a doubt.

+1 to Dakota.

The more we throw, the more points we score. The more we run, the more we punt.

Points > punting.

[quote="DakotaT"]Our offense screwed the pooch again in the red zone./quote]

I don't understand the "again" part. The Packers have done very well in the red zone this season. Even in this game, the fumble was the only problem. In their other three red zone appearances, they got two TDs and a field goal.

Let's not turn a failure on one drive into a chronic shortcoming.

I wouldn't consider a FG a successful outcome when the team makes it down to the red zone, though. It is just the same as punting, the field position is the only difference. Obviously a FG is better than punting, but I still say that a FG is not exactly a success.

My thoughts...if Brickhands Johnson catches that one pass on the goal line, Rodgers never gets the chance to fumble, which turns into an eventual Falcon TD. 7 point swing right there, game!

Shoulda, woulda coulda though...oh well.

So two TDs and a field goal is not good enough. Apparently they must score a TD every single time they are in the red zone. High standards.

Not at all. I'm just saying that coming out with a FG is good, but obviously we would much rather have a touchdown. If we force a turnover in the opposing team's 1-35 yard line, putting us in FG range immediately, we could do nothing and kick a FG on 4th and 10. Do you consider that series a success? Kind of, but in a tongue in cheek sort of way. Does Aaron Rodgers and his supporting 10 consider a FG a success, or are they upset that they didn't come away with 6? The field position is the only thing that changes how you feel about it, which in this case had nothing to do with the offense. I just don't like going to 4th down. Ever.

A field goal at the end of a long drive is a success in a tongue-in-cheek way? Can you explain what you mean by this? I'm confused how considering a field goal to be a success is a humorous assessment.

Considering we lost all four freaking games by a FG and would have won the Redskins game with one at the end I'll take whatever points we can put up.

IMO I think it is wise to take the points whenever your on the road playing a good team. Especially in games where it's pretty obvious neither team is going to go up and down the field scoring a ton of points.

Now in certain games like possibly NE coming up when the scoreboard is more than likely going to get lit up and the team your playing isn't that stout on defense I say you go for it there.

On the other hand when we play teams like NY or the Bears I say put the 3 points on the board every time.
