Just got an ad in mail for the above. Seems pricey...but the combination of "cost savings" with "safe!" appeals. (I've always been real leery of any space heaters.)

Does anyone here have any experience with these things, and have a recco pro or con?

We don't have an EdenPure one... but a comparable unit named Comfort Zone.

Claim one.. does it effectively heat a space. Yes.

Claim two... Is it a safe heat.. Yes, the outside of the unit is completely cool.

Claim Three.. minimally raises the electricity bill.. depends on your expectations.. it cost in the neighborhood of 30 to 40 dollars a month to run, wife would have it on for several hours a day, mostly at night. Albeit the reason we bought it is she still hasn't adjusted to the Northern climate and ran the temps a little warm.. to the point of too warm. Daily struggle.. I like it cooler. 😉

I bought one last year for about $750. Our model was a corner fire place and we use it in our rec room. The room is about 25' by 15' and it does a great job as a kicker heater source. The heat then funnels up the straircase to the top levels of the house. We keep our home at around 70 during the day and 68 at night.

With the addition of the space heater, our furnace does not run nearly as much and the house is comfortable. As for the nuts and bolts of energy savings, I'm too lazy to go through the calculations, but I'm sure sometime this winter we will have recouped the cost of the unit, and the beauty part of that is that Mrs. Dakota would have just blown the money on scrapbooking supplies.

Buy the heater Wade.

750 on scrapbooking supplies...and they say only men have expensive hobbies. rofl

Thanks to both of you....I'm definitely leaning toward getting one.

(Just want to wait a couple days an avoid the "impulse" part of my purchasing habits. Unlike most of the people here, I have a history of not being good with money, and so I try to give my enthusiasms a "cooling off" period.)

Wade, I don't even want to know what the total money spent on catalogging our lives has cost. But I'm quite sure if I did, Evil Dakota would have made an appearance.
