He says it will be good to have Smith back. I thought the rumor was that Smith was axed because of personal friction between him and McCarthy?

He maybe smart, but he hasn't figured out that getting Rodgers easy completions early make the game much more enjoyable.
The world needs ditch diggers too Danny!!!

Mike McCarthy is smarter than a lot of you guys account him for

Finley - I just wanted to touch on this and this alone.

Mike McCarthy is a smart man. I don't doubt that. Loved him in '07. He made all the right calls, except for one - he failed to take over the D against the Giants. He let his DC be stubborn and not make adjustments. Had I been Mike McCarthy, I would have overruled the DC as the HC has the authority to do that.

Now, Mike McCarthy isn't adjusting. So I'm wondering what happened to the Mike McCarthy I used to love? Is this guy an imposter who looks like Mike McCarthy?

You cannot keep the same game plan if you have key injuries. You also have to change the game plan if it has become clear the other team has found weaknesses in it.

Mike McCarthy used to be good at that. He isn't any more. I can't answer why as I don't know him personally.

That comes to stubbornness. The 2010 MM appears to be very stubborn. The '07 model not so much. He was adaptable.

McCarthy adapted last year too. It took several losses for it to happen.

Well, I sincerely hope it doesn't take an injury to Aaron Rodgers for him to adapt in 2010. MM wants to run a type of O that we simply don't have the talent on the OL for. People blame Aaron for turning his back to his receivers by spinning around. Well, Aaron's trying to survive. I'd much rather have an incompletion than an injury to Aaron.

I don't know how it can't be obvious that our OL isn't good enough to have a spread formation with Aaron and shotgun and nobody back there to protect him. The Patriots can do that. We can't.

Maybe it was Brett overriding MM's playcalling from the line of scrimmage that made MM look good that year. Who knows?

I really want to like MM. His stubbornness though is getting Aaron killed.
