Given our increase in injuries, what positions/players would you pursue?

I think that without a legit running game/running back, we're not even going to the play offs. You can blame this on Mike McCarthy first as he doesn't call running plays. Then I'd make some Oline trades and then a RB. A good O line would make BJack look better and Arod as well which makes both harder to defend. Clifton and Tauscher need to be replaced.

Then I would look for an experienced Safety or corner, and possibly a return man. None of those are requirements, yet would help in our overall field position game (at which we suck!).

The fact that we are sustaining more injuries is exactly why we will not be trading for anyone at all.

Agreed. You can't fill all these holes with outside talent, and I don't believe there are many players out there available who are much better than the depth on the team.

If it was just Grant and Burnett, maybe. Or just Grant and Nick. Or just Grant and Finley... damn, that's depressing just to type.

I have to agree with you on this Zero, with so many holes coming up how can you make a vaild point on one trade and not another. Ted Thompson once again will be safe from the bashing for not trading to make a difference.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

Of course you're not going to plug all these holes with trades, but there are some spots where we need some more help at than at others.

Bishop did a great job in relief of Barnett. There's a hole at ILB, but with the guys we have and Poppinga able to play inside a bit, as well, we don't need anyone there.

Peprah and Collins are the only guys we have left at safety right now, but I can imagine that we just sign someone untill Bigby and Martin are back.

The RB position could use some help. I don't see why everyone sees Starks as some kind of saviour, since he had a good, but not great college career... at Buffalo. And to add to that, he hasn't been healthy in ages.

NT would be a position where we could use some depth, but trading for one is next to impossible, since most teams are struggling to get even one decent player at that position.

And then the OLB position. We didn't get hit really hard with injuries right there, but as soon as Clay goes out, we're done. We can't get pressure to save our lifes. At least, not when bringing 4 from a normal package. I'd really like for us to take a look at a guy like Travis LaBoy again. I've liked Parys Haralson, as well, although he's a starter right now, so I don't know how willing a team like SF would be to give him up.

So really, the positions I'd like to see us get some help are #1 OLB and, maybe, #2 HB. Although I can imagine that we'd like to see what Jackson can do after last weeks showing.

Give a third day pick to SD for Shawne Merriman. He's probably gonna cut even.

The only way I can see us trading is draft picks as trading players deafeats the object

This isn't baseball. Trades rarely happen in the NFL during the seasons. While there have been a few trades this season, those are the exceptions.

My guess is the Packers consider going for Willis McGahee. That's a guess. I think something like a fourth gets it done. Maybe a pick based on performance.

Beyond that, not much else out there.

I like the idea of McGahee, but for at the highest, a 6th round pick

We need a difference maker at RB.
But i honestly don't know who, if anyone, is out there that we can get.

beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
