QBs are protected way too much in this league. I know they are very vulnerable, but come on. Pretty soon they are going to be wearing different colored jerseys like a goalie in soccer, or in practices so players know that they shouldn't hit them.

I'm pretty sure that if you watch the play again you'll agree that no matter if the victim is a QB or not, that kind of a facemask is easily worth a fine.

I remember the play and I remember it was a pretty violent facemask, but I don't seem to remember any other facemasks that were fined (then again, I don't stay up on all the fines doled out week to week).

I'm just sick of all these ticky tack flags because of a good, hard hit. Zombo hit for instance. I know there is a different thread about it, but to me that was a good, hard hit. I understand it was a flag because of how the rule was written, but to me, that isn't a penalty.

I don't care about the fine. Clay is a violent football player, which I am very happy to see once again in Green Bay. Now would the person who gelded A.J. Hawk kindly return his balls to him so we can really have a linebacking corp.

How are we even talking about this? Defenders have to be carefull "handling" the passer. It's pretty stupid to facemask a QB by the inside of the helmet. This is one fine Matthews definitely deserved.

Some of you are acting like Matthews did it on purpose. Sometimes you can't help it when you are just trying to bring someone down. You just grab whatever you can get.

Yes, your absolutely right. That is the one, if only, downside of playing the game with the amount of intensity Matthews does. However, he still earned that fine.
