It's the fact we had to sign him that pisses me off, Dave. I cannot and will not believe that there are no other options available who offer the Packers a greater probability of making it through the season relatively unscathed.

After all, if the talent pool is so thin already, what's it going to be like when the league "enhances" the schedule to 18 games and rosters must expand? You cannot make me believe that there are so few talented players out there.

I don't think that's in question, nonstop. There were most certainly other options back then, but I think most of us are focusing on what the future right now than rehashing what could have been.

They were both terrible, especially Tauscher, and it wasn't just against Peppers. I'm really beginning to wonder if we need to get Bulaga and Lang in there.

I don't recall any penalty (or any whiffs showed on TV in replay) where another player besides Peppers was causing them problems.

There was at least one play where Tauscher whiffed on the guy with the funny name that I think starts with an O. But maybe that was the only non-Peppers-related penalty on them.

If you're meaning Ogunleye, he doesn't even play for them anymore.

Adams, Toeaina, Peppers, Idonije, Melton, Harrison, Anderson... which one was it?

And I don't think it necessarily was Peppers causing them problems. They just suck.

Yeah, I know they don't have Ogunleye anymore. It must've been Idonije. I'd have to watch the game again to be sure, and I don't know if I want to watch this train wreck again.

"Greg C." wrote:

Yes, it was Idonije. I just ran across a reference to that play in the Green Bay Press Gazette: "Earlier, Tauscher got beat on an inside speed move by defensive end Israel Idonije, who drilled Rodgers just as he threw an incompletion."

The article is about how Clifton and Tauscher are showing signs of age:

Tausch just looks disgustingly fat and slow... he has to be the most out of shape O-Lineman in the NFL and Clifton is such a wimp, if he's not trying to cheat as much as he can by barely being on the line he just gets run over and around in run blocking and can't move his feet. It's just frustrating

This thread looks like it should be about a QB controversy! Everyone wants the backup to play - until it happens. Philly is lucky they had Vick or they would be crying for McNabb to come back. Hey, I would like to see Bulaga and Lang win the positions too, but they're not there yet. If they were the coaches would be playing them. I'm sure Ted Thompson would also like to see his draftees playing whenever it's makes sense. They want to win too, their jobs depend on itl.
