I think Colledge would probably bring more on the open market than the Packers would be willing to pay him to be a backup. His plus side for us is he could jump into various positions if needed.

The problem with Colledge is he will go into slumps and only starts getting it done when his butt is on the line. Had they not needed Lang to shore up some problems at Tackle I think he probably would have taken over for Colledge. He was given a little reprieve there to pick it up when Lang was replacing Barbre and filling in for Clifton which was paramount at the time.

Once Tauscher got back and Clifton was good to go and the quality of the OL play improved they weren't going to mess with it at that point.

Not sure how much College will get on the market. If we can see flaws, I am sure the guys who watch tape for a living will see it also. Especially when trying to figure his value.

May not be as much as everyone figures. Part of the reason for the noncap year is being speculated for owners to be able to drive prices back down before a lockout.

We may be able to get him for a reasonable price.

Wells just doesn't get enough love her.
As pointed out by Larry McCarren who knows a few things about playing center for the Green Bay Packers, Wells did an excellent job once he was back in the starting lineup.
It seems to me that once we had Wells and Tauscher back is when the line started to gel.

Wells started Week 3 on. He was in for everyone of the bad games. Not blaming him though. Wells is a great guy to have on the team. Spitz is better IMO. They both can pass block Spitz is better Run blocking IMO.

I will take Wells a my backup C anyday.

I don't think anyone trades for a GB offensive lineman, unless it's dog shit for dog shit like the Moll trade.

I like Wells at center except for the Viking matchup. I'm all for kicking Colledge to the curb, but in my opinion replacing him with Spitz is not much of an upgrade. We need a noticeable upgrade like about 30 more pounds and better athleticism. I want a power running game so that the D-line is so whipped they don't even bring a pass rush.

The day Jags bolted was when the ZBS should have been scrapped, and here we are three years later still in a mode of transition.

If another team signs him then great, we get a 2nd round pick(the round he was selected in).
If he stays we have a versatile backup/starter at a bargain price who has played in 4 OLine positions for us.

I still think they'll get a new CBA in place at the 11th hour. Still, I don't think Colledge would get much attention anyhow. If we can sign him for a million bucks a year, I say we do it. Let him compete with Spitz next season.
