Brooking: Minnesota Vikings Late TD Classless

MINNEAPOLIS -- Tempers flared Sunday at the Metrodome after Minnesota's final touchdown of a 34-3 playoff victory over Dallas, as Cowboys linebacker Keith Brooking sprinted toward the Vikings' sideline, taunting coach Brad Childress and later calling the late score "classless."

Vikings nose tackle Pat Williams, meanwhile, said Brooking was lucky to escape the Minnesota sideline in one piece.

My take?

It's the NFL, not NCAA.

It's the playoffs, not preseason.

I love the ruthlessness. Something I haven't seen from my favorite team, ever. It's better than Denny Green's sitting on the ball at halftime in '98..

Cardinals fans were also up in arms over the Saints scoring more on their battered team.

Parity in the NFL should not be self enforced discipline.

I remember a game between the Packers and Cowboys when the Cowboys kicked a late fg to give Chris Boniol a share of the record of 7 fgs, Reggie went nuts about that. The Cowboys won 21-6 on MNF. So if you are complaining about Brooking then i guess you would have to do the same about Reggie. I myself loved it because they thought it was ok back then but now that it happens to them they are pissed.

Vikes vs Jets Super Bowl 🙂 This ones for Ted 😛
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

I guess Brooking missed the fact that Brett made a pass to Rice on the previous 4th down. The fact they went for it again should not be a surprise. And the Cowboys are the last organization to lecture somebody on class.

What I don't get is all the comments about Wade Philips I am reading. Yeah he is the ultimate coach, but isn't it Jason Garret who is running the offense which couldn't score or protect Romo?

I don't have problems with teams that keep playing, throwing the ball with a big lead. As they say, it is the defenses job to stop them. I do not like this call from the Vikings because I believe they did it just for the sake of rubbing the Boys nose in it. The reason I believe that is because if they had not had a big lead, they do not go for it on that 4th down. They kick the FG. To me that is unsportsmanlike. Keep playing like normal, that is fine, when you make a decision to change your self for the purpose of embarrassing the other team, then you are no longer being a good sport.
The world needs ditch diggers too Danny!!!

I always hate it when players/fans whine about "running up the score" This isn't pee wee football. If players get their feelings hurt over stuff like this, they need to retire and join the Girl Scouts.

My belief is that whether you are winning or losing, you give it your all until the final whistle.
The Vikes did that, good for them.

I was happy to see Jerry Jones and the over rated Tony Romo humiliated.

One of the things I liked about the Patriots in '07 was they didn't let up off the gas. That's how the game should be played I believe. If the other team wants to whine or complain about getting scored, do something about it. Don't let it happen.

Wahh I didn't do my job and stop you, wahhh.

Shut up, man up and grow a pair.

I liked it, but just because I'm hoping for some kind of 'what goes around, comes around' stuff here.

I don't think that it was necessary to run up the score like that. The only ones you can possibly hurt in that scenario are your own players. A late injury there would've gotten out the haters.

I guess Brooking missed the fact that Brett made a pass to Rice on the previous 4th down. The fact they went for it again should not be a surprise. And the Cowboys are the last organization to lecture somebody on class.

So what if they scored the last TD even though they had the game won. Had it been the Packers instead of the Vikings doing it, we wont be complaining right? Everyone seems to forget that this is the NFL. The score was 34-3 not 70-3, now that would be extreme but even so who's fault would it be for not stopping them? Well the cowboys blew out the eagles pretty much for two weeks in a row and nobody complained about that instead everyone jumped in their bandwagon and already declared them superbowl favorites. Seriously.
