When you've the annual income of the typical NFL owner, a ten million investment is not as big a deal.
Put it this way: the last time you made a major investment (house/car purchase, big market trade, IRA purchase, donation to church building fund), what percentage of your annual income was involved.
Snyder's worth something more than a billion, right? Then, assuming a 5% ROI, that billion is going to yield $50 million of income a year. (And since my guess that Snyder didn't get where he is by settling for 5%, it's probably double that or more.
So Shanahan's 7 mil a year works out to 3.5% of Snyder's income or less.
Okay, now think about how you approach spending 3.5 percent of your income.
If you make $100k/year, that's $3500.
If you make $50k/year, it's $1750.
Cigarettes, 1 pack/week: $250.
Beer, 1 12 pack/week: $500.
Family dinner and movie out, once/month: $1,200.
Total: $1,950.
In our world, Snyder spending millions on Snyder is a waste of resources. For Snyder, it's beer and cig money. And he's just bragging on how he can drink fancy imported beer rather than Bud and Miller.
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
