I'm quite surprised actually. Shanahan is not a bad coach, so I'm sure one of the other teams will pick him up.

from what i read it won't be the raiders al still owes him 250,000 nfl has good article.Lots of teams need a good coach maybe jets :icon_smile:

I'm very surprised - to me, Shanny appeared to be one of the rare "untouchable" coaches in the NFL.

"I wouldn't root for the Minnesota Vikings to win a chess match against Nazi Germany."

I'm wondering if Shanahan will want to assume GM responsibilities as a condition of taking on another head coach position. If so, and given his spotty track record for bringing in a sustained level of talent since the Broncos' last Superbowl appearance, I imagine that would limit his opportunities in the league.

Reports now suggest that Shanahan was fired in large part due to his refusal to fire Bob Slowik, the team's DC.

Um, I was surprised Coach Slo remained DC for three years, heck I was surprised he even got another DC gig after his abysmal failure as a DC with the Packers.

He may well be a really nice guy, but was he worth getting fired over?
