I agree with 93z regarding the back-up QB. Personally, I would have given Tampa Brohm for Garcia if that was viable. I am a Ted Thompson backer, but that term is very relative in that there are so many Ted Thompson haters, especially after the "fiasco". I kid about Justin Harrell, but in fact I am only kidding, and remain hopeful. I still like to contrast our situation with KC as an example... good coaches, young teams, rebuilding... yes, rebuilding, the primary difference being KC losing what, 12 of their last 13 games or so? We are young, we have holes, some aren't getting plugged quick enough, and new ones seem to be popping out, especially lately. We are .500, tied for the lead in our division, and have a great, yes great, coach and GM. I would like a big line, vs. a "quick" one, if that's the trade-off, but we don't have that. I remind myself that the line we do have has won a lot of games for us, including by running the crap out of the football against some very good teams. I just hope they "gel" before all our quarterbacks get killed.

You'd have given up our 2nd round draft pick for Garcia? Please, don't ever replace the Packers GM with yourself. That is down right silly talk that says "Hey im stoned off my boobies!" right thar!

btw, thanks for trashing my god damn thread, pricks!!!!

Your point was duly noted and agreed upon.. it then took a flip to what if Aaron isn't starting.. thus the talk about backups.. which in the very same premise proves the point you started at which is Rodgers isn't the focal point of the Packers problems that many perceived it would have been.

And since I probably would tower over you in height and mass.. I suggest Mr. Prick the next time you wish to address me in such a manner.

Oh and maybe Ted isn't human..

It's a natural high. Yes, I would have. What would the alternatives be? Flynn beat him out. Garcia would fit well here, imo. Brian Brohm would have never cleared to practice squad. Keep 4 ? What for, again, imo. I know it sounds radical, but we might be finding out how expensive the alternative is as early as Sunday. The relative spot that a QB is selected has about the least to do with his success in the NFL, proven again, again and again. So, after my most compelling argument, can I go ahead and replace Ted Thompson now?

Aaron still had a stronger arm and was more mobile in year 1 still had a stronger arm and was more mobile
than Brohm was.

"Cal2GreenBay" wrote:

Stronger Arm.. possibly to probably.. but early on Aaron as well tried to loft or touch every pass in there.. hesitant. As was Brohm this camp.. unsure, off a beat, and never put any zip on the ball.

Mobility.. can't disagree there.. but that doesn't always make the QB better.. albeit Rodgers seems to have a balance to him and doesn't just tuck it and run at the first sign of danger (Will Robinson).

But I think anyone thinking Brohm was going to beat out Rodgers was dreaming a might bit.. I would have been extremely disappointed if it was close.

Don't jump to conclusions. It would be stupid of them to have him out there winging passes around on Wednesday after a shoulder injury no matter how good it felt.

Why would the Packers let Rodgers throw in front of the media?

I wouldn't put a lot into that.

Although I do have my doubts on whether or not he can throw with a sprained shoulder.

i don't think it's going to be up to Rodgers regarding whether or not he plays. I think he'd play no matter what. if mccarthy doesn't think he's healthy enough, he won't play.

I know some if not all will say I'm being naive or idiotic with this theory, but here goes nothing...

I've listened to what coaches would do to trick other teams. Things like hiring 'spies' to watch the upcoming teams practices or practicing out in the cold and letting the media know it trying to psyche out the other team. Just lots of things like that. Coaches do whatever they can to get an edge, thats the name of the game.

Word on the street by the national media is Aaron is injury prone. Why not use that to your advantage? Play into that! Have Rodgers throw some passes, see how he feels and YANK him saying he couldn't finish.

How does this benefit the Packers? Remember I said that you never show your enemy you are in pain? BINGO. It's a mind phuck! When you ARE in pain, you hide it. If you can parlay pain into an advantage, you do it.

Don't think for a second that teams don't know that Flynn and Brohm won't win games for us. They seen them play in the pre season. You can't fake BAD.

With an opposing defense thinking our QB is hurt they are likely to come STRONG so you plan for that. Just like you plan for it against teams like the Eagles who you know blitz a lot. You use that to your advantage.

Of course, this could backfire because you're showing blood to essentially an animal and we all know that once an animal senses blood they go hardcore.

What it comes down to is... after listening to McCarthy the last few years and putting things together... Aaron will play. I said that he would be limited in practice and would practice Friday, not a full practice though. It wasn't exactly a BOLD prediction, but its coming true and you will see.

Aaron Rodgers WILL play against the Falcons and he WILL throw for TWO TD's and we WILL win the game. Mark my words. Bookmark this thread and come back to it in four days. 🙂

Zero,

I don't think he was yanked because McCarthy and company are trying to create the idea that Rodgers can't play through pain as a trick.

I think Rodgers is hurting right now. He's only a few days removed from the injury and only a day removed from rehabbing. I don't think McCarthy wants Rodgers out there in front of the public showing his pain. Teams could see that and if they feel this shoulder is as bad as I'm sure a lot of Packer fans are having nightmares of, teams could take a cheap shot.

I'm not saying Atlanta is like that, but it's football and in the moment you do what instinct tells you.

My guess is he'll play. He'll throw 15-20 passes and the running game will have to prove it's worth this week.
