I agree with 93z regarding the back-up QB. Personally, I would have given Tampa Brohm for Garcia if that was viable. I am a Ted Thompson backer, but that term is very relative in that there are so many Ted Thompson haters, especially after the "fiasco". I kid about Justin Harrell, but in fact I am only kidding, and remain hopeful. I still like to contrast our situation with KC as an example... good coaches, young teams, rebuilding... yes, rebuilding, the primary difference being KC losing what, 12 of their last 13 games or so? We are young, we have holes, some aren't getting plugged quick enough, and new ones seem to be popping out, especially lately. We are .500, tied for the lead in our division, and have a great, yes great, coach and GM. I would like a big line, vs. a "quick" one, if that's the trade-off, but we don't have that. I remind myself that the line we do have has won a lot of games for us, including by running the crap out of the football against some very good teams. I just hope they "gel" before all our quarterbacks get killed.

You'd have given up our 2nd round draft pick for Garcia? Please, don't ever replace the Packers GM with yourself. That is down right silly talk that says "Hey im stoned off my boobies!" right thar!

Your point was duly noted and agreed upon.. it then took a flip to what if Aaron isn't starting.. thus the talk about backups.. which in the very same premise proves the point you started at which is Rodgers isn't the focal point of the Packers problems that many perceived it would have been.

It's a natural high. Yes, I would have. What would the alternatives be? Flynn beat him out. Garcia would fit well here, imo. Brian Brohm would have never cleared to practice squad. Keep 4 ? What for, again, imo. I know it sounds radical, but we might be finding out how expensive the alternative is as early as Sunday. The relative spot that a QB is selected has about the least to do with his success in the NFL, proven again, again and again. So, after my most compelling argument, can I go ahead and replace Ted Thompson now? :icon_smile:

I wonder where all the folks are who claimed Brohm would
beat out Rodgers and was a better college prospect.

Know what I saw in Brohm this pre-season.. Aaron Rodgers of about 2 years ago.. neither was ready to step in and ball day 1.

Stronger Arm.. possibly to probably.. but early on Aaron as well tried to loft or touch every pass in there.. hesitant. As was Brohm this camp.. unsure, off a beat, and never put any zip on the ball.

Mobility.. can't disagree there.. but that doesn't always make the QB better.. albeit Rodgers seems to have a balance to him and doesn't just tuck it and run at the first sign of danger (Will Robinson).

But I think anyone thinking Brohm was going to beat out Rodgers was dreaming a might bit.. I would have been extremely disappointed if it was close.
