Because he made so many sweeping promises, most of which he will never be able to deliver upon. Because the economic recovery will not be as rapid as people hoped and (irrationally) they will blame him. Because there has been no significant drawdown in Iraq, we've escalated in Afghanistan, and Guantanamo is still open.

For many reasons. I could be wrong. I'm certainly no prophet. 🙂

I think he'll be out when people realize that this "Change" he promised was either absolutely nothing at all, or change for the worse. Iran's that much closer to the bomb (Pending developments on that story about the neutron initiator, who knows if it's true or not), the economy starts a very slow turnaround with employment lagging behind... Although I'm sure the collapse of health insurance as we know it if the Senate version remains mostly intact will take at least 6 years to happen, so he might get a pass on that.

At this point, I don't think it really matters. No way that the GOP gets the two thirds needed to override Obama's veto in 2010, and short of mass riots in the street over healthcare, I guarantee you that Obama would not sign any bill neutering the bills that are going to be passed now.

I get tired of America is dead as we know it type of statements. That's just ridiculous. Politically you don't agree with what he's doing, so that kills America. That's really what it comes down too.

He was elected as President. He hasn't taken over anything.

Obama really isn't doing anything different than what he said he would. He basically ran as a tax and spend liberal and he was voted in by a large margin. His whole Health care plan is give me a bill and I'll sign it.

He's spending way too much. I do think the upper class needs to have their taxes raised. The difference between wealthy and middle class is the largest I think since the depression so something needs to be done, but no way will raising their taxes back to what it was under Clinton or Reagan pay for what Obama has in mind. He's just getting started. Next year, he wants an energy bill, which will require more spending.

I think Obama has a chance to be re-elected though. I haven't seen the republicans offer much of anything that would make me change my mind. Their best candidate, who could win, won't win the primary because he's Mormon and from Massachusetts or was gov there. Huckabee would have a shot, but he let a guy off death roll that ended up doing some pretty messed up stuff. That's politically damaging.

Palin is unelectable IMO as is Newt.

I think it'd be great to see a third party candidate emerge, but people are to damn stubborn for that to happen.

Upside to this bill: A lot more people will have basic health insurance, with basic being the operative word. Though I am still opposed to government-mandated health insurance, I think that the inevitable rationing that will ultimately result from this plan (not from the government directly, but from the hospitals themselves) could ultimately turn out to be a good thing for this country. It will force patients to be more responsible in their use of the healthcare system, to engage in more preventive practices, and to pursue self-care treatments whenever possible. this won't happen right away, of course -- in fact, we might see an initial spike in patient abuse of the system -- but the hospitals will react, if only for the sake of self-preservation. Eventually the days of insurance policies as healthcare handouts will have to come to an end.

Downside to this bill: A powerful disincentive to business to hire full-time employees. I'm assuming here that the employer-sponsored insurance requirements will be lower for part-time employees than full-time employees.

Meanwhile the federal deficit will balloon and the insurance companies will rake in enormous profits.
