93, I don't care how many of these types of situations you write about, I am not pulling your Buck out of the revine.

As for pre-surgery, the day they yanked my appendix was the day I realized why heroin addicts keep shootin the juice. Morphine is a great drug. I was Mr. Giggles for 6 hours after.

Keep positive man, you have a whole forum of brothers in here to keep your spirits up. I hear Cheesey has a lot of time on hands, I volunteer him to help you with snow removal. Did you hear, the flatlanders don't have snow yet?

Like I told ya Shawn, if you need anything, just holler!!

Now as to your time away for work, a couple of things.
Make sure that you let them know that you are still at home, after all you are the IT guy and otherwise no one will notice that you're gone.

Now, while you're recovering, itis a good time for you to try something new.
I know that you are all techie and stuff, but here is something that you might be interested it...phrased just for a guy like you...

BOOK
Announcing the new Built-in Orderly Organized Knowledge device (BOOK). It's a revolutionary breakthrough in technology: no wires, no electric circuits, no batteries, nothing to be connected or switched on.
It's so easy to use even a child can operate it. Just lift its cover. Compact and portable, it can be used anywhere -- even sitting in an armchair by the fire -- yet it is powerful enough to hold as much information as a CD-ROM disk.

Here's how it works:
Each BOOK is constructed of sequentially numbered sheets of paper (recyclable), each capable of holding thousands of bits of information. These pages are locked together with a custom-fit device called a binder which keeps the sheets in their correct sequence. By using both sides of each sheet, manufacturers are able to cut costs in half. Each sheet is scanned optically, registering information directly into your brain. A flick of the finger takes you to the next sheet. The BOOK may be taken up at any time and used by merely opening it. The "browse" feature allows you to move instantly to any sheet, and move forward or backward as you wish. Most come with an "index" feature, which pinpoints the exact location of any selected information for instant retrieval.

An optional "BOOKmark" accessory allows you to open the BOOK to the exact place you left it in a previous session -- even if the BOOK has been closed. BOOKmarks fit universal design standards; thus a single BOOKmark can be used in BOOKs by various manufacturers.
Portable, durable and affordable, the BOOK is the entertainment wave of the future, and many new titles are expected soon, due to the surge in popularity of its programming tool, the Portable Erasable-Nib Cryptic Intercommunication Language Stylus (referred to by the acronym PENCILS to those in the trade).

"Alrighty" then.. I know I may have been a little more stubborn, edgy, quick tempered, time consumed and agitated the past couple of months than normal.

However there is a round about reason for it.

I hate hospitals, can't stand doctors and will never allow someone to cut me open again. It's been 27 years since the first and last time that I was through surgery. I feel you on the stubborn part, I'm there and I think it's funny how those around us stubborn people react. "Quit being macho, take a damn aspirin for your headache!"

All will be well and dandy. Once you're all healed up, shoot me a line, we'll have race! (I let you win last time!!)

Hey Shawn - Look on the bright side. You'll be able to now make Wade's day, i.e., keep him occupied instead of grading papers. :thumbright:

Wishing you a successful surgery. You'll be fine.

Good luck pack93z. That apparatus you asked about is called a "HAMMER." One swift blow to either the knee or head is all it takes to put you out. (JK)

You'll do fine.....I had 4 scopes on my right knee in 4 years until finally the Doc said "OK, nothing left.....time for a total knee replacement." Been fine since, except at security checkpoints.

Have you told this over at PP.O?

"pack93z" wrote:

Haven't... haven't posted a ton over there either. Lack of time more so.. so being absent for days on end won't be noticed.. here it may be a better chance.

Plus it sounds like a pity plea.. which is not the intent. I am pretty open about myself.. an explanation more so than anything.

"Rockmolder" wrote:

The people over there want you as one of their admins. I doubt they'd see it as a pity plea. I think they 'care' about you, as well. As much as you can do that over the internet, of course.

Anyway, again, good luck. My dad got a new hip a year or two ago, I remember him laying in a bed in the middle of the room, doing nothing else than playing some cards and Catan on the PC. Maybe you'll get a new hobby out of this, lol.

At least you'll see your kid a lot.

Good luck to them, and your wife, as well.
