Thompson is an idiot for putting all of his eggs in one basket... and I'm not talking about Brett, but in having no two straight out of college rookies to backup (injury prone) Rodgers. I hate to say I told you so, but... I did. I feel for Driver, he deserves better than what the Packers are becoming. Moving on was just plain stupid after a 14-4 year. Crash and burn. Packers have a tough schedule in front of them and will be lucky to finish 8-8. My prediction was 5-11, and it looks like that's where the team is going.

I love this kind of attitude. We lose one game to the best team in football and one game on the road against a playoff team from last year - a game in which we were 30 yards from being in game winning field goal range.

But apparently, we are now headed for a 5-11 season. Pure gold!

Because they lose a week 4 game against a bitter divisional rival makes them not the best team in the league anymore? I mean you do realize that only 2 teams in the history of the NFL have gone undefeated right.... RIGHT?

Come on guys.. I know its the internet and its all about instant satisfaction but come the fuck on. Lets at least try and have a little broader perspective in all this. I am sick and freaking tired of all the whining and negativity.

Last year at the start, the offensive line and running game were abysmal. Absolutely terrible. Then the coaching staff got it all together again and we ended up going to the NFC championship game, behind a steady Oline and a resurgent running game.

Last year the New York Giants were 2-2 going into week 5 as well... they went on to win the Super Bowl.

This is a young team. Shit is gonna happen... we were never gonna finish the season undefeated. Is this team perfect? NO. Is this team the best in the NFL? NO. Would you think NY Giants were the best in week 4? No. Can you make any broad statement at the end of week 4? Only if your an idiot.

Damn.

But you're right -- too easy to jump off the ledge when it doesn't go well, and I'd say losing a game most of us thought we'd win* qualifies as it not going well.

As I said in another thread, this is one weird NFL season so far -- I don't see how anyone can draw any definite conclusions from what we've seen.

I'm going to wait and see how we do at home vs. the Falcons, after two tough losses -- I expect to see a team with some pride and some fire, and I damn well expect a win. After that it's week-by-week, as it should be.

*just a thought, but perhaps we weren't giving the Bucs the credit they deserve? I know I wasn't; that was a better team than I expected, for sure.

I do agree that 8-8 is what they look like but all things considered, most people had GB 2-2 at this point. Most people aren't shocked that they lost to Dallas and then went on the road and lost to Tampa Bay.

You look at the schedule

Atlanta
@ Seattle
Indianapolis
BYE

I think they'll be 3-4 at the bye week. I had them 4-3 when I went through the schedule. That's a game off the pace I had them on, but then again, I wasn't expecting 13 or 14 wins either like a lot of people were. I had them at 10 or 11.

They reach 9 and they probably win the division. So all is not lost. Four games in and we're jumping ship. I think a lot of fans let emotions get involved when it comes to their football team. I'm more or less a one game at a time type of guy and I think that's what we need to do.

I do agree that one of the worse decisions Thompson has made is his overconfidence in Flynn and Brohm though. Quite frankly, it was insane.

Was it? I think Ted Thompson looked at other QBs, but who's out there that's worth a damn?

Daunte Culpepper? Heh. No.

The other backup QBs I wanted were already on other teams.

You also mentioned total wins. I said 10 at the beginning of the season. We'll see. Still hoping for it, but it's not looking very likely right now.

I just want us to beat the Colts. And of course the Bears. And the Vikings. Would hate to see my sig tampered with.

Packnic.. the only thing I disagree with in the post.. is why should we yearly have to wait for the same offensive line personnel to get it together in the regular season.. seriously?

That to me speaks of lazy or unfocused play.. and personally I am tired of seeing the group play well opening week and slowly degrade from there.

But to main point.. I agree.. the season is young and lots of things can happen yet.. players will step up and things can change quickly for the fortunes of a team.

Actually it's because Washington went on a 7 minute drive in the 4th quarter to make it a two score game, and Dallas couldn't make a play to stop them. Dallas right now is third in their own division. Hardly the best team in football.

And last year, we had no running game and started 7-1 because we had a damn good, experienced QB running the offense. We don't have that luxury this year, and we've clearly taken a step backwards from where our line was playing at the end of last year. I'm tired of hearing about how young this team is. We're not starting a rookie squad out there. The offensive line in particular should be beyond having to be taught how to block and not make the same stupid penalties every week. The ones who need to buck up are the same players who make the same mistakes week in and week out.

Oh I agree that GREAT teams don't have to worry about inconsitency in the Oline and I definitely agree that our OL needs to be looked at carefully during the offseason and maybe even completely re-vamped.

My main point is that its not over. Long way to go, and personally i have tons of faith in MM ability to get it together... just like he did last year. Then at the end of the season we got some work to do, to make sure that this team is more solid than it was this year.

The QB experience has freakin zero to do with these 2 loses. Brett and all his experience, got the hell beaten out of him by Dallas last year, and no amount of experience is gonna help you when you have 1.7 seconds to throw a pass.

Look this team has some work to do. But losing to two very good football teams early in the season is hardly justification for whining and crying. You might be tired of hearing how young the team is, but its the truth. Personally I'm tired of so called fans selling their team down the river after two loses in the first quarter of the season.
