Happy thanksgiving, my American friends.

Thanks Rock. Do you have a holiday that is similar in any way?

No, we don't, actually. Pretty weird. Most of our holidays are in remembrance of people. Nearly all of them, actually.

Sinterklaas  is coming up, though, but that's more of a childrens festival more than anything else.

At least Christmas is coming off. Favorite holiday of the year.

Too many to list. I have a good life.

Needs to be said though - the Packers finally coming together. I haven't been this stoked after a football game in quite a while.

And of course, Packershome and the people who make it special. I love this place and am thankful for its existence and for you all to continue coming here. :thumbright:

What kind of foods do you have?
By now you have heard that our Thanksgiving is typically a turkey dinner with a variety of side dishes. Lots of different pies for desert with pumpkin and apple being a couple of the more traditional pies.

Our Christmas meal is pretty much the same. If there is a larger group getting together we have a second meat dish. Ham is common. My mother being of Italian decent, we very often have lasagna. She has had prime rib once or twice. Rabbit once. Roast beef a few times.

Lots of pies and cookies.

Rabbit, deer, turkey and pheasant are pretty common at Christmas. Although it depends a lot on the family. I mean, we don't have something like turkey on Thanksgiving. Pretty much everything goes.

I've had duck, fried patoto... thingies, asperges in ham and everything in between. Lol.

One thing that is very popular, though, is this thingy.

Did that just about every year when I was young with the entire family. Only problem is that you'll get hungry while eating. But you undoubtedly know that. Lol.

And I have a question for you... What do you guys eat at old years eve? We eat this. Really unhealthy, but o-so good. Oliebollen .

"Old year's eve"?
we call it "New Year's Eve".

So set fare at all.
Like you every family has their own traditions.
Some times we will go out to eat. Many times my wife and I just stay home alone. (Now that our kids are older and out of the house.)

Maybe get a pizza and hot wings to munch on during the evening. Perhaps a cheese and meat tray with some crackers and snack on them. Watch a little tv. It doesn't matter if we stay up until midnight or not.

Sounds great. I will have to convince my wife to give it a try.

Aah, sorry about that. We call it 'Oud en Nieuw' over here, Old and New litterally, and the 31st of December is called Old years eve litterally, so I guessed that would've been it over there, as well.

Won't your son be there this year? I guess that it's nice to have a quiet new years eve, having the kids out of the house, no pressure or anything.

beast (9h) : College Coaches wouldn't want that publicly, as it would hurt recruiting and they might not get the job.
beast (9h) : I thought they were supposed to publicly announce them, at least the NFL ones. Hafley was from college, so I believe different rules.
Mucky Tundra (9h) : Who knows who they're interviewing? I mean, nobody knew about Hafley and then out of nowhere he was hired
