I'm not sure how McCarthy could hear something about 'not laying an egg', when what the guy actually said didn't even sound like it. Anyway, eggs or no eggs, the guys been with you for 22 years... does that count for nothing? What happened to warnings, or at least listening to the other side of the argument.

I'm not a Mike McCarthy fan but if I was a boss and an employee said to me not to lay an egg then I might not fire him but at the very least I would give him time off.

From the looks of this article, McCarthy isn't the one who fired him....the head of the maintenance staff did......

Nonetheless, that is bullshit and I feel sorry for the guy.

That's the problemn with the team at the moment.

The groundstaff have more passion and pride than the team does.

The players never seem to realise in any sport the passion and pride a fan feels.

When we lose as a fan it hurts like hell and that feeling of depression really does get to you.

I truly wonder if the players and coaching staff even get it sometimes.

From what I've learned. Mike McCarthy told the supervisor he thought he heard someone say don't lay an egg.

Supervisor says we can't have that, we have to let you go.

Wood is subsequently let go.


I didn't see where it said that Mike McCarthy asked for Wood to be fired or anything like that. Let's just blast Mike McCarthy though. I'm down for that. I'm tired of him anyway!

Really though, after hearing Mike McCarthy talk about "clean it up" every week, are we surprised he may have had a hand in the "cleaning" staff? 🙂

But in same breath couldnt Mike have stopped the firing as well if he knew the man was going to be fired?

This makes me hate McCarthy even more. He hasn't showed enough as a coach this season to be able to act like this. I know he didnt fire wood but he must've complained or something.
