I don't believe that Green was getting the ball just so he could set the record. That would be insane. I'm not sure if anyone even realized that he got the record. As Zero said, when you have the lead late in a game, and you've had success running the ball all day, there's nothing wrong with running the ball.

Anyway, congrats to Ahman. I always liked him. In a way, I hate to see Taylor's record fall, but I couldn't think of a more deserving guy to do it.

Grant - 96 Yards on 21 carries (4.6 avg) with 1 TD and 20 yards being his longest run.

Green - 45 Yards on 6 carries (7.5 avg) with 0 TDs and 26 yards being his longest run.

I have to admit that they where closer than I though, but watching the game, I really got the feeling that Grant just can't get a long gain anymore. One small hit on his legs and he stumbles and falls over. Even though he does kee upright very well when tackled up high.

Green, on the other hand, bounced off of tacklers and ran hard.

I don't think that Green was given the ball to get the record. He was given the ball because he was having a good game.

And grats to Green. That's quite a legend he had to pass to get to the 1st spot on that list.
