According to NFL.com, Mason Crosby has attempted the second most field goals from beyond 50 yards this season with 4, second only to Jacksonville's Josh Scobee who has attempted 5 and made 2 (40%).

Last year, Crosby was tied for 3rd with 6 attempts from beyond 50 (of which he made 3), exceeded only by Sebastian Janikowski (7-3), Josh Brown (8-6), and Jason Hanson (8-8). Ryan Longwell was 6-6 from 50 or more.

So my instinct was correct. Crosby is attempting far more long kicks than average, and it's hurting his accuracy average.

There are a lot of problems with this team right now but I don't believe the kicker is one of them.
Like nonstop, I believe McCarthy makes him look worse than he is.

LOL Crosby has been near the bottom of the league the last year and a half in FG accuracy, and consistently misses clutch kicks, but I "have it out for him"

More than a dozen of those ahead of him have not even attempted a 50 or more FG.

Your bias is proven.

Hey now don't be putting up facts! Crosby is failing in the clutch! His four missed FG's are why we lost 3 games!!!! Wahh I'm blind!!!!!

Really?

Last year he was only 10/13 from 30-39 yds. Ranked 29th.

In 2007 he was only 9/14 from 40-49 yds. Ranked 26th.

Try again.

Okay lets put this in perspective.. Crosby missed a 51 yard field goal... that is fact.

We had absolutely no rhythm to the offense in the first half and for the 6 time out of seven games got dominated by the oppositions defensive line.

Now tell me just how important that miss was in the big scheme of things?

I said our kicking game is a problem. It IS a problem. Is it the biggest problem? No. Better?

Last year he was only 10/13 from 30-39 yds. Ranked 29th.

In 2007 he was only 9/14 from 40-49 yds. Ranked 26th.

As I stated before, I am more pissed that the coaches don't have faith in Crosby to get touchbacks, that they feel, squibs and Pooches, guaranteeing field position of the 30-35 or better for the other team. If we can get the field position, then I am OK with Crosby, for accuracy, I don't want to give up both though. Which is what we are currently doing.

If that is all coaching and Crosby is able to kick it deep all the time and he is just doing as told, then I will apologize when that is proven. Right now all I have to go on is what I see. They are having him kick short IMO for a reason. More than likely, he can't do it consistently.
The world needs ditch diggers too Danny!!!
