Regular season, He missed a ton in preseason. I don't care if it those don't count in his stats. Crosby is not one of the higher percentage kickers, and losing his deep kickoff ability has made him very expendable.

So, you're saying Crosby should have kicked it deep regardless of what the coaches instructed him to do?

I said before the game and during. I'd rather us have just done on sides kicks. Why? Because Crosby is very good at them and if we get them back, great, if not, well the field position would be the same. Turns out that was accurate, unfortunately.

Real easy to blame the kickers isn't it PFWT? Uh, seems to me those three points wouldn't have made a hell of a lot of difference.

Oh, that's right. Crosby is at fault for the O-lines weaknesses. My gosh, it's Crosby's fault Rodgers held the ball to long and got sacked upteen million times. And don't forget, it's Crosby who made Jolly headbutt that poor guy and give the Vikes a first down.

Yep, blame the kicker.

BTW...less than 20% of all kick-offs are touch-backs. Especially in open air stadiums.

What I am saying, is that everybody I have seen, justified the letting of Longwell go because he could not kick it deep. He is about as accurate as they come on FG, but we always gave up field position because of his kickoffs. Well, Longwell is an more accurate FG kicker than Crosby, and now Crosby cannot kick it deep either.

I highly doubt that the coaching staff said, I don't care if you can kick it out of the endzone, we want you to float one to the 10 15 yards line so we can get coverage. They made them choices because Crosby cannot be relied upon get it deep.

So now we are in the same field position problem we had with Longwell, and we lost some of the accuracy he had. I am just putting the same reasoning for letting Longwell go, towards Crosby.

Longwell left because he wanted to play in a dome to finish his career. Quit crying over spilled milk. That was YEARS ago. Only way we could have kept him is over pay for him or put a roof on Lambeau Field.

And you're wrong about a staff not telling a kicker to float it high for coverage. It happens a lot. It's called strategy.

The ideal kickoff would have been HIGH and DEEP into the endzone. How many kickers can do that? One? Two? Maybe a few more. I think Crosby could do it, but was focusing too much on getting it high.

Again...
Longwell wanted to play in a dome or warm climate to finish his career.
Crosby is not the problem.

23rd and more than a dozen of those ahead of him haven't even attempted a 50 plus FG where Crosby is 1 of 4.

You remove the 50+ yarders and he's tied at 6th.

You are missing the point. We gave up Longwell, because he couldn't kick deep when cold. Crosby is not as accurate as Longwell. Now Crosby cannot kick it deep either. (not to mention it isn't cold yet). But you all want to settle for Crosby.

In my book, we went from a great FG kicker to a lesser Kicker because we wanted to get better field position. Well, we are not getting that. But lets just keep the status quo. Yes there are other problems. And those have been picked apart mostly.

Our Kicking game is a problem. Crosby has never been above 80% on FG. Longwell was 80 or above in 7 of 9 years.

You're missing the point! Longwell wanted OUT of Green Bay! He wanted to kick his final years in a better climate aka DOME. We didn't let him go. HE chose to GO.

This Crosby can't kick it deep over one game is absurd. That's like saying the Packers didn't throw it short because Rodgers can't throw a short pass.

There's a thing called ... game plan. And our game plan sucked.

You can mistakenly pin it on Crosby all you want, but know this. You're wrong.
