Hey, it goes without saying that illegal immigrants ripping off the system is not a good thing. I'm not arguing that. I'm just pointing out that they also serve as a crutch to certain aspects of our economy as well, not to mention the pure logistical nightmare of what you're suggesting the solution is.

ya see here is the thing ... the businesses that 'relay' on abusing the illegal system here in the states will suffer ya ... if there is reform.
Seems like the argument is whom will clean my business or who will pick my oranges or cut my grass ...

Well duh! ... americas will once you start to pay decently and you will have too once everyone is on the same page.

Heck I did some of the same jobs mentioned above.
ok everything but the cleaning thing ...

No, they don't.

I've lived in Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas. The areas where they predominantly live are higher in crime, under-maintained, etc.

Plus they drag down the economy since we have to pay for their education and health care.

You should go into "certain" sections of towns and see for yourself. But... you wouldn't have the balls to see for yourself, but only because it'd take a fool to go into those neighborhoods. Regardless, I encourage you to go see for yourself and then come back and tell us how much they're contributing.

I live in the San Francisco area. Simple formula for how to measure a school around here - the more illegals, the worse the school. The less illegals, the better the school.

You tell me why that is. I'll play dumb.

Mass, i'm sorry that "labels" offend you. Thats not my intent. I use them because it make it clear which group i'm speaking of. Fact is, the MAJORITY of people that think the illegal aliens breaking the law are people that are on the left, or what would be called "liberals". Very few on the "right", or "conservatives" think thats fine.
When you are talking face to face, it's easier to make points then the time you have to try to write a few comments.
And, i bet you know which people i mean when i use those "labels". Just as people label me a "righty" or "conservative." I myself don't mind being labeled, cause it pretty much sums up the way i think.
If it quacks like a duck, it's probably a duck....so why not call it so?

"Cheesey" wrote:

You could call me Al Gore's left nut and it wouldn't offend me, Cheesey. I just think it's unnecessary. Do you want to talk about the issue or do you want to talk about the people who don't agree with you on the issue?

I don't think "lefties" want the immigrants here. I have to think it's a matter of priorities. It's a typical whipping boy issue when recessions strike for far far greater reasons, i.e. not the workers scraping the bottom of the system and milking out a few bucks.

Not when illegal aliens are staging mass protests as they've done around the USA the past 18 months.

That's what started this thread, illegals in a snit because of a Halloween costume.

As I implied in my earlier post, many of you have never really seen the problem up close and personal. Easy to pooh-pooh things you know nothing about.

The argument that irks me the most is "We're all immigrants here." True, but there's a difference between legal immigration and illegal immigration.

Mass, i think you missed the point i was trying to make. So far, i have NEVER heard a "right winger" screaming for the "rights" of illegals. I HAVE however heard it from those on the left......exclusively. That doesn't mean ALL lefties agree with those people, but enough of them do, which allows their leadership to continue down that path.
So the group that fights for people that are not here legally are on the left, not on the right.

Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers

Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovksy says t was direct communication with someone familiar with Jaire’s line of thinking at that moment.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovsky just replied to me a bit ago. Jaire hasn't said it.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Of course, that depends on the definition of "we"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : We have been told that they haven't because he wouldn't accept it. I submit we don't know that
dfosterf (16-Apr) : What is the downside in making a calculated reduced offer to Jaire?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers are receiving interest in Jaire Alexander but a trade is not imminent

dfosterf (14-Apr) : Maybe send a crew of Angels to the Packers draft room on draft day.
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I am the Angel that gets visited.
