That another problem. They take from the pot, and put nothing back. And what reason is there for them to do anything to become legal, when they KNOW no one is trying to prosecute them and deport them?
There's no incentive to change, or for new people coming over the boarder to do it legally.
As long as there is no consequences, why bother with the legalities?

If you put laws on the books, then do NOTHING to enforce them, no one will obey them.
Pretty easy, if you ask me.

Legal citizens do all of that as well. Bankruptcy laws were changed because so many had abused them by accumulating massive amounts of debt and then using their get-out-of-debt free card.

Hospitals can't turn away anyone in need of care, nor would I want them to. The system is abused enough as it is with people receiving 6 figure operations for me to care too much about someone taking up a bed for a night.

I apologize if I'm playing Devil's Advocate too much, but it's funny to me that people attribute a systemic recession to the lowest rung of the ladder.

Legal citizens, you said it. Legal citizens who have to deal with the consequences of ripping off AMERICAN banks with bad credit. These illegals dont give 2 shits. They just go back to their country. They dont have to deal with the repercussions of bad credit or bankruptcy. Maybe you're just not exposed to it or haven't been too much but I have. I've seen many do it and some were friends. From my experience, they're good people but are a drain on our economy.

Hey, it goes without saying that illegal immigrants ripping off the system is not a good thing. I'm not arguing that. I'm just pointing out that they also serve as a crutch to certain aspects of our economy as well, not to mention the pure logistical nightmare of what you're suggesting the solution is.

I agree. They do and have played a key role in this country. This country is in a recession and jobs are scarce. That doesnt mean all these illegals should lose their jobs.......and then, when things get better, they can work again. Wouldn't be fair. I'm not even so opposed to them being here or working. My main issue is the exploitation of our banks(credit cards) and not paying bills(hospital, car loans, houses, etc.) Yes, many americans do it too but they stay in the county and suffer the consequences of a car repo or racking up 30k in cc debt and not paying taxes.

One issues i see with the cheap labor though. Slavery ended over 100 years ago. I'm not comfortable with "cheap labor". It's basically allowing companies to hire people for 3 bucks an hour. Yes, these people need work but they are exploited people. If these companies cant make it legitimately, close your business or figure out ways to be legally profitable.

I say, make them all legal if they're already here. Of what i've read, Obamas health plan will make them pay for healthcare, maybe not. Make them pay taxes and lets move on. No way in hell are we going to get rid of them so lets work with what we have.

ya see here is the thing ... the businesses that 'relay' on abusing the illegal system here in the states will suffer ya ... if there is reform.
Seems like the argument is whom will clean my business or who will pick my oranges or cut my grass ...

Well duh! ... americas will once you start to pay decently and you will have too once everyone is on the same page.

Heck I did some of the same jobs mentioned above.
ok everything but the cleaning thing ...

Aside from the hospital issue (mainly emergency room visits), I agree with you 100%. The credit card companies need to step up and do a better job with background checks on people who they are giving cards to (or banks to check the background of people seeking any other type of loan). Going after the people who are here out of desperation and seeking medical care or a better quality of life seems less effective than going after the businesses who are allowing it to happen.
