If we were signing Ahman as our feature back, you'd have a point. We are using him as a 3rd RB. I don't see that as being desperate at all. Injuries can force these types of moves too.

I have nothing but the utmost respect for Ahman Green.
Obviously, the mere fact that he is on the verge of breaking Jim Taylors rushing record speaks volumes.

What I find sad, is that the Green Bay Packers have been reduced to a team that is combing through the scrap heaps of once great players to fill out their roster.

This is simply because of the ineptitude of Ted Thompson as General Manager.

Sorry Mass, but just another nail.

This is all a number of TT-nonfans ask for, to bring in some players whose name stands 10 feet taller than their current performance. Ahman Green is being asked to play a role in the 3-man RB rotation. That is it. It's easy to find nails when the glasses you have on have nails painted on the lenses.

who would you rather have as a back up ( this is for anyone to answer)

Wynn
Jackson
Green
Rhodes

If these guys are the only 4 options, Wynn and Jackson can't stay healthy so I have to pick Green.
The point is, that if Ted was good or even average at his job, it shouldn't come to this stage.

Why do we have a taxi squad (practice squad to you youngsters)?

Are the guys that Ted drafted that are on there not good enough to play ( Lumpkin for example)?

Simply put, Thompson's and companies oversights this offseason have no real bearing towards this midseason pick up to bolster a spot.

We were not able to find suitable players at the trade deadline, not all that falls on Ted and companies shoes either.

So I am pissed off at the shape of our offensive line.. the rest I can deal with in terms of roster depth. I might not agree with all, cough safety cough, but it is what it is. We didn't have world class talent that was cut loose.. maybe better than we had.

But the choices made in terms of offensive line depth behind the starting five was a freaking joke.. and IMO, after 5 years is worthy of much bitching and maybe even placing heat under someones freaking chair.

But none of that has anything to do with Ahman Green and the role he is going to play.. 3rd on the depth chart.. I doubt we there is anyone availble the gives us a better chance than Grant at this point.. the offseason.. then start beating Ted silly.

If Lang can solve the depth issue at left tackle.. and Tauscher comes through at the right.. we have at least suitable depth.. I doubt there is anyone available post deadline and Jones and MacIntosh signing that give us better options. If Clifton can stay available that is..

This tandem (Ted, Campen, and MM) have taken some of my passion for the 09' season away.. and that there is a sad state of affairs.

So your issue is, why didn't we bring Lumpkin up? Or why is Lumpkin on the PS and not Ahman Green, if Green is our best option at this point in time to fill in?
I think those questions answer themselves, actually, with a little dose of common sense.

Practice squads could also be considered "scrap heaps", seeing as any team has the ability to take a player from them and put them on their roster.

The fumbling decreased, and he didn't have any in Houston.

You know that if he does fumble even once, there is going to be talk on all of the radio stations about the black sleeves vs. the white sleeves vs. no sleeves.

"Gravedigga" wrote:

Exactly. If i recall correctly, he played better with the white sleeve :)

Apparently.
A little common sense tells you Green is not eligible for the practice squad so why pose the question.
Practice squads could be considered the 'scrap heap" except that they are young players whom you considered good enough to not release outright as they may be future players.

Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : That someone ... likely the agent.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovksy says t was direct communication with someone familiar with Jaire’s line of thinking at that moment.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovsky just replied to me a bit ago. Jaire hasn't said it.

dfosterf (16-Apr) : What is the downside in making a calculated reduced offer to Jaire?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers are receiving interest in Jaire Alexander but a trade is not imminent
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Jalen Ramsey wants to be traded. He's never happy is he?

dfosterf (14-Apr) : Maybe send a crew of Angels to the Packers draft room on draft day.
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I am the Angel that gets visited.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Visiting Angels has a pretty good reputation
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : what
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : WINNING IT, not someone else losing it. The best victory though was re-uniting with his wife
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : The manner in which he won it was just amazing and wonderful. First blowing the lead then getting back, then blowing it. But ultimately
