Green Bay - Quarterback Vince Young's one-year contract with the Green Bay Packers is for the veteran's minimum of $715,000 and contains no guaranteed money.
It means that unless Young makes the opening-day roster he will be paid nothing more than the weekly rate for training-camp participation.
If Young lands on injured reserve, his base salary of $715,000 will be reduced to $383,000. Most rookies have so-called "split" contracts in their first and second seasons, but that would be highly unusual for a 30-year-old quarterback to be given one.
Because of the NFL's veteran's salary benefit, Young will count $555,000 against the Packers' salary cap.
As the third player selected in the 2006 draft, Young signed a six-year, $48.04 million contract with the Tennessee Titans that reportedly contained $25.7 million in guarantees. His signing bonus was $20 million.
