Lollz at the illegal immigrant attacks in here. If all of them disappeared overnight, people would be begging for them back. Their insanely cheap labor offsets an unbalanced economic system that would eat itself if the basic services and manufacturing they provide went up drastically in cost once they were no longer available to work for nickles and dimes.

Legal businesses would by necessity have to charge more for the same products/services. It's pretty clear that those products and services are very basic, based on the people they are hiring. This increased cost would trickle up, as the legal citizens now owning those jobs won't be able to afford the products and services from the places they work. So their salary will by necessity have to increase. So the costs of the products and services will have to increase.

It's silly. The problem is at the top, not at the bottom. If you want to fix the imbalance, look to the huge profit makers in the businesses, not the people they are paying scraps to so that their profit margin will increase.

Not every illegal immigrant works in a field picking lettuce or blowing leaves for 3 dollars an hour. They work in the service industry, restaurants, delivery jobs and more. Many people in restaurants and delivering are making 15 -50 bucks an hour. I'm guessing there are quite a few Americans who would love to have a job like that at the moment.

And as I said before. They abuse and exploit our hospitals and just dont pay. Why? Because they know they can get away with it. They can just go back to their country. Rack up many thousands in credit card bills. Wohoo, free money.

Legal citizens do all of that as well. Bankruptcy laws were changed because so many had abused them by accumulating massive amounts of debt and then using their get-out-of-debt free card.

Hospitals can't turn away anyone in need of care, nor would I want them to. The system is abused enough as it is with people receiving 6 figure operations for me to care too much about someone taking up a bed for a night.

I apologize if I'm playing Devil's Advocate too much, but it's funny to me that people attribute a systemic recession to the lowest rung of the ladder.

I don't do it to be mean, i do it so there is NO way someone can twist what i mean into something else.
Believe me, i am NOT against people from other countries coming here to live.
IF they do it LEGALLY. Otherwise they should stay the hell out of the United States.
We have laws on that for a REASON. And it's to protect everyone born here or who FOLLOWED THE LAWS and did it right. Is it fair to those that worked hard to earn their citizenship LEGALLY to just allow law breakers to stay here? I don't think so.

I don't like illegal immigrants. They're illegal for a reason.

Point I was trying to make is that you just say that lefties want them here, and you can't do them any harm, and they want to hug them and what not.

I consider myself more on the political left side than the right side and I'm not a fan of illegal immigrants. I doubt most 'lefties' want their country flooeded with illegal immigrants. Or any person, for that matter.

This has already happened in at least one economic sector -- agriculture. One of the primary drivers in the skyrocketing produce prices we experienced a couple of years ago was the heavy crackdown on illegal migrant workers. This trend was then exacerbated, of course, by skyrocketing oil prices. It was a perfect storm.

I'm actually quite opposed to the congressional mandate that hospital emergency rooms cannot turn anyone away. Obviously, if people are in need of lifesaving, emergent care, I believe they should be treated. However, this provision is abused everyday by citizens and illegals alike who bring themselves or their children in for non-emergent, non-acute problems, because they know they can't be turned away. I believe emergency rooms should have the right to triage patients properly and direct non-emergent cases to Urgent Care or a routine appointment. It's unacceptable to me that virtually every emergency room in this country loses money. This nation's hospitals have to subsidize their ERs by raising rates in other departments. Similarly, almost no ambulance service makes money on emergent runs; they survive on routine transfers between hospitals and other care facilities.

I believe in erring on the side of caution and treating people. But when it's clearly not an emergency, send them to a more appropriate treatment facility. If that means they don't get their cough medicine for free, oh freaking well.

Oh, don't get me wrong, there's an issue with the top as well. But don't ignore the bottom.

I agree it would force some businesses mostly affected by the sudden absence of illegals to bring prices up.. but in the long run, it would help force legitimate action to actually help boost the economy. Not to mention we'd be able to see who the real culprits are as far as businesses that were employing said illegals, and then penalize them as well.
