Who would do better with this type of talent?

I don't like him either and wouldn't mind seeing him gone, but it's one and one matchups and GB is losing every time. That's not on the coaching, that's on the player. The players are losing the battles. There is only so much the coaches can do.

I have to disagree, I think the talent is workable.

Heck, the Colts OL guru (Tom Mudd, I think) made due with a make-shift LT the past couple of years after their pick Tony Ugoh did not pan out.

I have to think there are more instances with greater coaches doing a heck of a lot more with much less talent. Granted we don't have 1st rounders, but we've spent reasonably high draft picks - in his time Ted Thompson has picked more OL than players at any other position.

I think if Cliffy gets back, that's a big step in the right direction. Sign a veteran OT that can fill in, release the rookie G/C Smith.

And pray like no tomorrow the line comes together like it did in the 2007 season. Only this time it has to come together a lot further.

After a performance like that tonight, I don't know how even Ted Thompson can sit on his collective kiester and think this is okay to continue to throw this same group of guys out there and hope they don't get Aaron killed.

Make a trade, sign Tauscher back (he can't honestly be any worse), just do SOMETHING.

Also, look at the Bills.

They lose their All-Pro LT in Jason Peters, his replacement stumbles like no other, then they turn to a 7th round draft pick to fill in at LT.

The Bills have made due with a much more inexperienced and physically less gifted players than the Packers currently have on this Packer club.

It's not like the talent is dreadfully lacking - the back-up department on the O-line, yes it is - but the starters have talent to at the very least be passable.

Although the absolutely appalling depth behind the starters is the fault of the Personnel Dept. - which is headed by TT.

I think the interior line is workable, but my problem is the Packers don't' have the tackles to play good offensive football. They have guards playing tackles. Barbre and Colledge are guards and not tackles in my view. They're playing out of position. Now granted Clifton is hurt, but you've got to have the depth to back him up and that's on the front office and specifically Ted Thompson.

Now don't get me wrong, Campmen is awful and I would look at the running game as a clear example as proof, but it's the one and one matchups that are just embarrassing to watch. Odom, Allen, and Adewale Ogunleye didn't win because of coaching, they won because it was one and one.

I won't argue with that much - you're quite spot on.

Only thing is, looking back at the Bills, I think decent coaching can make players like Barbre do alright. Colledge... I'm surprised because I never expected him to be THIS bad.

When you look at a team like the Bills - lost 2 of their starting LTs (one to trade, the other cut after a very poor showing) and then turn to a 7th rd LT who is doing adequate... well I think it shows good coaching can be enough to put decent make-shift Tackles out onto the field.

It looked to me like the Packers Off. Coord decided that if our O-Line was going to leak like a sieve, they might as well let the D-line through and then release Grant for those short screen passes that got the Pack at least 5-7 yards each attempt. Did anyone else see this? Towards the end of the 4th quarter, it seemed that was all we called, play-wise. I guess that is acknowledgement of your weakness but for the love of God, sign Tauscher or do something.

Fire the offensive line coach. He's responsible for this garbage. Start with him.

The Bills offensive line stinks too though.

I think they're second or third (not 100% sure) in sacks given up with GB being first so I'm not sure I would want GB being Buffalo like in the offensive line.

I would say top to bottom, Green Bay has the worst offensive line in the league. They need upgrades and I feel like two upgrades are sitting at home right now in Levi Jones and Mark Tauscher.

You lineup Jones at LT (Clifton needs to get healthy) and Tauscher at RT and I think they play better even with Campmen as coach.

Actually you are right - they are near the top in sacks given up (16), which is surprising. Seeing their games though, their protection does an adequate job for the most part. You're looking at a OL that provides some pocket for the QB to step up into.

On top of that, they are averaging more than 110 yards rushing - with about 4.5 ypc as a team. That, too, without Marshawn Lynch. But I can see where your point in the Bills not being the best example - which they aren't. But I think they show that with good coaching, you can get a heck of a lot more out of the talent we currently have on the o-line.

Besides continuing arguing over this point, I do agree that some experience is needed. Not sure Jones is the answer, but then again probably not much better than him out there right now.

Taush and Jones would by short-term fixes. Ted Thompson sure as hell better figure something out this off-season to soldify the future at the position.
