I side with the bozz on one point:
Who cares if I am hated for being a Packer fan?
When I was a kid, the Packers stunk. I still traded away my Marcus Allen rookie football cards for Packer linemen from my friends. They thought I was stupid. What can I say, I am a PACKER fan. First and foremost, it is the TEAM.
I was truly fortunate to live during the Brett Favre years and the return of a winning spirit to Titletown. #4 was our quarterback, our leader, and to some, our football god.
Now he is gone. I have mixed feelings of course. I don't care about the whole saga of how it happened, I'm sure there is enough blame to go around. I'm just sad I can't fit into my old #12 Lynn Dickey jersey (ha!) but am happy to buy another #12 b/c I think I see some of the young Brett Favre in Aaron Rodgers.
I'm not lying when I say it will be hard to see him on the opposing sideline (and of ALL teams, the ViQueens). I won't burn my #4 jerseys because those are representative of wonderful years that I remember fondly. I will, though, wear my "We'll Never Forget you Brent" shirt (I chose the passive aggressive hit rather than Benedict Brett). To me, it is in good fun. Also, this shirt will represent to me these uneasy, transitional years when he is still in the league but not with the Pack (may they be hopefully brief).
Ultimately, I think if I pull that shirt out in 10 or 15 years, it will be just as much of a novelty as a Charles Martin jersey or an Incredible Bust T-shirt. Moments in time for people to say, "oh, yeah, I remember that whole business."
