I'm fine with zone blocking. I have no problems with it at all. In fact I like it, a lot.
Also for one of those article just because you don't pull someone does it mean your running zone. There are tons of plays you don't pull any OL in running plays.
Honestly I don't blame the system at all. I blame the coaches... and the players... but more the coaches. Because it has worked about every where else.
Honestly I strongly question Joe Philbin as the Offensive Coordinator and James Campen as the Offensive Line coach. I think they both might need a demotion. I'm not sure who'd I would replace them with.......
If Jeff Jagodzinski were to agree to a deal which he wouldn't get his pay until his 4th year with the Packers I would be okay. The problem with Jags is he keep trying to get promoted after spenting every little time some where.
If Tom Cable got fired from the Raiders I'd give him a strong look.... the run blocking improves a lot where ever he goes.
Also the Texans got a lot of good OL coaches.
I've played both power and zone run blocking systems and I was clearly better at power (what can I say I wasn't quick enough for zone) and I just like the idea and the way zone works more for a smart quick team.
I'd say the best way to go was do both... I think it's a little harder for the players to learn if your doing both but it gives the coach and players more freedomThe difference is in power you attack your guy one on one end of story. In zone the OL double teams a guy at first and then it turns into power. Basiclly it's which do you want more one on one match up all the way around or do you want to double team the DL for a quarter to half a second which should help with DL puch but hurt the time it take to get the LBers.
