I've been ridiculed repeatedly for saying this, but I predicted this would be Rodgers' MO before last season even started. Whether Packers fans like this or not, Mike McCarthy would rather have his quarterback take a sack -- even lay down for one -- than chuck it up for an interception. I think Rodgers throws those bombs into double and triple coverage far more than McCarthy actually wants him to.

What about throwing it out of bounds?

Rodgers did hold the ball way too long at times. Just throw it away.

Would love to see what people would say, when Rodgers throws the ball away 9 or 10 times a game because of pressure.

There was only two shots where he might have been able to get rid of the ball.

Agreed. I'm not going to say Rodgers is exempt from criticism, but blame def. lies on O-line. I'd rather see him keeping plays alive, which he tried to do.

Someone else mentioned getting away from WC, and I think that's also a major point that this team needs to address. Short slants, screens, etc. which we really haven't seen yet.

I just watched the "highlights", and slants and screens were working to an extent. But WOW, that O-line is baaaaad...VERY bad!

It would be better than having so many 2nd and long and 3rd and longs.

edit, that sounded bitchy

The Packers ran a lot of routes down the field. It takes time for the receiver to get into position. Rodgers had no time at all. When he did hold the ball for too long, he usually got out of the way and made something happen or his receiver dropped the ball.

Maybe 1 or 2 he could have thrown away, but most of them the pressure was to quick. Unless you want to see Rodgers get to his drop turn and throw the ball out of bounds.

Need to get back to the basics of WCO, slants, short drag routes. Screens, we ran 3 that I can recall in two games. Both games when pressure was coming which is prime for the screen.

Looking for some changes to the play calling to come soon.

This is how I feel as well. I see too many plays that require too much time to develop. I imagine they are seeing mismatches with the intermediate and long route plays but keep getting stifled in trying to execute them.

MM has a golden opportunity to show he can adjust with the O-line situation in that we are playing the Rams this week as opposed to the Ravens or Vikings. He should use this game to set the tone for week 4 against the queens.
