Vanilla... rabble rabble rabble.. we see all the other backers flying around making plays and here sits the single speed Hawk.. vanilla my rear.

Like I said... we can hope he comes alive and picks up some of that OSU play... guy has the talent.. that is the frustrating part..

Okay... I am departing the thread.. gotta put the kiddos down and quite frankly I am hoping that the last year and a half has been a mirage.

I have to disagree with you. Bishop hasn't played enough to give up a ton of plays. I don't really see how bishop is limited to his speed. Why? Because he is a ball hawk. He has good hands, hits hard, brings pressure. Not too mention he brings energy. Bishop gets better every time i see him play.

Well if you watched last year he was the reason for a good number of long runs or long passes.

Bishop isn't a ball hawk and he's speed is limited because guys can run around him and beat him... it's like Poppinga and Bigby have trouble going against faster guys...

So you identified his flaw.

When Barnett went down on the first series in the second half vs the vikings bishop came in and recorded nine tackles in 1 half. Forced ap to fumble on 4th and 1.

Against Houston he started his first career game. He had 12 tackles and 2 forced fumbles.

My point is he has upsides that you cant look past. No i am not saying he should be the starter, i am just saying he needs to see more playing time.

I saw Hawk flying around just like the other backers in the Arizona game. I saw him creating pressure up the middle, twice he was double teamed and pushed both lineman back into the pocket. I've liked what I have seen from him this preseason. To me I see a very noticeable increase in his intensity and level of attack.

Yes he had nine tackles but like Bigby both of them got a lot of tackles because they the guy they were covering would get open first wait on the QB to throw to them and then catch up to the guy after the a 5 to 15 yard catch.....

Bishop does have some great upside but I'm not sure he's better than any of the ILB in front of him. Yes he should get more playing time but there isn't really more playing time to go around.... unless they move one of the ILB to OLB which I have been calling for.

Move Chillar, Barnett or Bishop to OLB and Poppinga behind Hawk which would be Poppinga best position IMO and get who ever moves more playing time....

It's true... both have had games where they couldn't stop the pass but would rack out tackle after tackle of the guys they were suppose to cover after the got the ball down field.

Both players make a lot of big plays but also give them up.

Negative. Bishop only had 9 tackles last season on passing plays. 2 of those were for a loss, 2 were forced fumbles, 2 for a gain of 5, 1 for a gain of 3, and the biggest one was for 24 yards. So he gave up one big play during the pass. But thats only if we go by tackles.

Yes because we shouldn't count all the pass plays he messed up that went for TDs or someone else made up for his mistakes.....

Plain and simple Bishop makes too many mistakes when you got Hawk and Chillar and maybe Barnett healthy clearly all ahead of him.
