Looks like we have 7 players that are pre TT. So gimmie a break when a GM comes in and gets rid of all the vets of course he will have to fill in the rest of the roster with his draft picks. Its only common sense so i think the stat is over rated.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

I think a more appropriate stat would be what he does in the later rounds vs. the early rounds.

He loses Brian Brohm, but Josh Sitton is starting.

He's had success all over the draft board at least when it comes to constructing this team which is now his.

We'll find out this year how good of a GM he really is I think.

Do you really follow the Packers? If you have, you'd know that our team was very old in several key positions. Therefore, needed to be retooled. Thompson has done that. Albeit, not in the timely fashion as I'd have hoped, but he has.

I agree the stats for GM is usually a horrible way to judge GMs. But I think you would be hating and thing pro TT.... but that's just a guess.....

and his stats are over ranked because the GM before him did a bad job of getting young talentand had a lot of untalented vets so because of that Ted Thompson stats are padded.

But then against think about it.... most GMs come in because the GM before them sucked.... sometimes it's because they retired but usually not. So most GMs stats are padded.

Also I disagree with the idea Pat Lee is done... the kids is a super talent kid if he can stay healthy.

Anyways what goes to Ted Thompson is that this is clearly a VERY VERY talented team which is his job... so I think Ted Thompson has done a great job as it's shown in all the talent on this team.

I live in Illinois and have to listen to the Chicago sports talk radio praise and gripe about the Bears. One look at their draft picks over the years (with a few exceptions--i.e. Matt Forte) and it's obvious that Ted Thompson is better at the drafting game than at least one other owner. I like our youth. With the exception of our secondary, we are pretty young all around.

I hate when people try and compair MS and TT.

Sherman took over a team with a lot of solid vets, IMHO he tried to grab guys that would give the team immediate help, he did not have the luxury to retool and rebuild, The Packers were expected to win every year he was there.

Added to the fact that MS was part of the mid-nineteis experiment of having a GM/HC, which pretty much failed everywhere(I.E. Mike Holmgren Seattle), and you just can't compare the two.

I think Ted Thompson has done a fine job, as did Mike Sherman, but as was stated earlier, this is the year that will tell just how good Ted Thompson and MM really are.

ummm.... the team he took over was a lot more than just solid.... they could (and some people say should) of been able to win a Super Bowl.

and yes he grabbed guys that he thought would be immediate help... which was one of his problems... it's much smarter to look for help for the long run. Also in the drafts he didn't really bring in to much talent over the year. It probably didn't help most of the media (and so probably most of the teams) knew who he was targeting so he had to trade up.... to get them. Let's face it, he always thought about now and not about the future.

and you just can't compare the two.

I think Ted Thompson has done a fine job, as did Mike Sherman

"buckeyepackfan" wrote:

Not only can I compare the two.... I did :whipitgood:

they had the same job... and not much had change in those years. There really is no reason you can't compare them.... other than Ted Thompson took over a much worse team but that's because of Sherman not doing his job as GM.

Also Sherman didn't do a fine job..... he was pretty bad at it....

I agree Thompson hasn't proven he can be good over the long run.... but this team is clearly a young talented team.....

When Ted Thompson has a better winning percentage than MS, then you can compare the two and say Ted Thompson is doing a better job.

If Ted Thompson had to be GM/HC, I think you would have seen a much different aproach to his situation.

One of the main reasons Ted Thompson was brought in was because MS was trying to deal with playe contract negotiations and then go out and be the head coach. It has been proven that philosphy has failed more than succeeded.

Bottom line GM's and HC's are judged on their w/l percentage, as of right now, MS is far ahead of TT.

I see the potential in this team, it is year 5, time for the potential to start paying off.(IMHO it will!!!)

Zero2Cool (7h) : sounds like Packers don't get good compensation, Jaire staying
dfosterf (11h) : Nobody coming up with a keep, but at x amount
dfosterf (11h) : Trade, cut or keep
dfosterf (12h) : that from Jaire
dfosterf (12h) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (12h) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (12h) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (12h) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (12h) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (13h) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (13h) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (13h) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers
Zero2Cool (13h) : That someone ... likely the agent.
Zero2Cool (13h) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
Zero2Cool (13h) : Demovksy says t was direct communication with someone familiar with Jaire’s line of thinking at that moment.
Zero2Cool (13h) : Demovsky just replied to me a bit ago. Jaire hasn't said it.
dfosterf (15h) : Of course, that depends on the definition of "we"
dfosterf (15h) : We have been told that they haven't because he wouldn't accept it. I submit we don't know that
dfosterf (15h) : What is the downside in making a calculated reduced offer to Jaire?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers are receiving interest in Jaire Alexander but a trade is not imminent
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Jalen Ramsey wants to be traded. He's never happy is he?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : two 1sts in 2022 and two 2nd's in 2023 and 2024
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers had fortunate last three drafts.
dfosterf (15-Apr) : I may have to move
dfosterf (15-Apr) : My wife just told the ancient Japanese sushi dude not enough rice under his fish
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I think a dozen is what I need
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Go fund me for this purpose just might work. A dozen nurses show up at 1265 to provide mental health assistance.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Maybe send a crew of Angels to the Packers draft room on draft day.
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I am the Angel that gets visited.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Visiting Angels has a pretty good reputation
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : what
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : WINNING IT, not someone else losing it. The best victory though was re-uniting with his wife
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : The manner in which he won it was just amazing and wonderful. First blowing the lead then getting back, then blowing it. But ultimately
Zero2Cool (12-Apr) : I'm guessing since the thumb was broken, he wasn't feeling it.
dfosterf (10-Apr) : Looking for guidance. Not feeling the thumb.
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : If they knew about it or not
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : I don't recall that he did which is why I asked.
Zero2Cool (10-Apr) : Guessing they probably knew. Did he have cast or something on?
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : Did they know that at the time or was that something the realized afterwards?
Zero2Cool (9-Apr) : Van Ness played most of season with broken thumb
wpr (9-Apr) : yay
Zero2Cool (9-Apr) : Mark Murphy says Steelers likely to protect Packers game. Meaning, no Ireland
Zero2Cool (8-Apr) : Struggling to figure out what text editor options are needed and which are 'nice to have'
Mucky Tundra (8-Apr) : *CHOMP CHOMP CHOMP*
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : WR who said he'd break Xavier Worthy 40 time...and ran slower than you
Mucky Tundra (2-Apr) : Who?
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : Texas’ WR Isaiah Bond is scheduled to visit the Bills, Browns, Chiefs, Falcons, Packers and Titans starting next week.
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : Spotting ball isn't changing, only measuring distance is, Which wasn't the issue.
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : The spotting of the ball IS the issue. Not the chain gang.
Mucky Tundra (2-Apr) : Will there be a tracker on the ball or something?
