Detroit @ Buffalo - detroit at 2.6 odds
I like detroit over buffalo here; they have been winning a few games and IMO have something more to prove then buffalo. Could care less about TO playing a few snaps.

Green Bay @ Tennessee - GB at 2.54 odds
I said I wasnt going to play this one this week since we will be sitting out most of our key players. Rodgers will only be in a drive or 2. It sounded like Tenn wont have their starters for most of the game which they originally were going to do. So perhaps just a quarter or 2.
I'm undecided here ...

Washington @ Jacksonvilla - Wash at 3.4 odds
Dont know too much about either team. I like how well wash has been doing this preseason thou. The odds look right.

Houston @ TB - Houston at 2.44 odds
I watched the MN houston game the other day. I really liked how houston played and think they can beat TB.

Dallas @ MN - Dallas at 2.4 ... I like MN team this year (I like MNs team this year; after watching brent 😉 in action. It looked like he might be a slight upgrade from their current QBs. They have a awesome D and running game to boot. But ... they will be resting most of their starters so I give this game to dallas.

San fran @ SD - san fran at 2.6 ... again SD is better but is resting their starters.

These are the match ups I like this week.

I wont be playing all of these (prob 3); I am most iffy on the GB and Sanfran picks.

ya thats the thing with the states they take 30% for taxes with betting ... least I think they do. Never won that much when I betted.

anyways - is nonone else interested in discussing picks?
I'm enjoying watching other teams especially when I play the picks. The movie two for the money is a interesting flick about football picking also.

My preliminary picks for next week (ie could change cuz its early and havnt got the total odds yet)

- Seattle over rams
- Cowboys over tampa
-Lions over saints (this is one of those long shot picks that will have good odds)
- Texans over jets
- Minn over the browns
- titans over steelers (not sure if I will do this one; although titans sure looked good kicking our ass in pre-game 4)
- And last but not least ... GB way over the bears

When I pick I usually just take match odds - meaning straight win (usually better money). But sometimes I take the handicap (ie either for or against) if I feel it could be close or if the handicap looks good.

If it was OK to do so in the US, this is the site I would use.

Bookmaker.com

If my wife allowed me to place a small amount in an account each year in order to wager (if it were ok to do, )I would wait until kickoff day instead of funding prior to that.

I heard that they call you around kickoff for the college games with incentives to fund your account, something like 25% additional to what you deposit. I heard that if you tell the guy that you are unsure if you are going to wager this year and that you only bet on the NFL...I heard that they will call you back and up the bonus to about 35% like just before kickoff of the NFL season.

This is what I heard. I also heard that you can bet many other sports, horses being huge there, along with virtual slots, poker and other stuff. This is the place that sets the line first, btw.

Jut to confirm is gambling still illegal in most states.

I thought prohibition ended years ago??

Don't you have bookmakers on your high streets?

Walk in any British vilage, town or city and there are numerous places to place a bet, on any sport you can think of.

Within 1/4 to 1/2 mile from where I live there are 3 bookmakers shops (or "Bookies" as we call them)

I'll let you know my picks for the opening games after I've analysed them.

Are we doing a weekly picks competition on the site like we did last year?

Just so you know, tax on bets was stopped in the UK around 15 years ago if my memory serves me right.

It used to be 10% in the .

I always used to pay the tax with my bet, because if you didn't and won big (not that I ever have or did, my biggest win ever has been 148.50 on a 1.50 bet (10p lucky 15)) you lost 10% of your winnngs to tax.

The good thing about putting on a bet on matches other than your team is in, gives you an interest to watch the game and cheer on the team you've backed.
