Yeah I don't even care about Brohm. The 3rd string qb is SUPPOSED to suck.

Complaining about the 3rd string qb, is like eating at McDonald's and complaining that you have the shits after wards. What did you expect?

So much depressing groupthink in this thread. I'm willing to bet dollars to donuts that a lot of the people who are calling for Brohm's head are the same people who were loudly proclaiming that Rodgers would always suck and never amount to anything. For that matter, a lot of people scoffed when Thompson drafted Flynn, declaring that he was a waste of a draft pick, and here he's outperforming Brohm.

I was excited when they drafted Rodgers, I was thrilled when they drafted Brohm, and I was pleased when they drafted Flynn (a little extra championship experience never hurt anyone). Each time I've had to endure waves of cynicism and pessimism from others around me. I'm getting kinda tired of standing alone, guys. 😉

Totally agree with this and many other posts.

If keeping Brohm is the worst thing that happens to the Packers it will be a great year. If this is the most exciting thing we have to talk about, it will be a sh1tty year.

Well Nonstop you are not alone.
I was ecstatic to get Rodgers. The steal of the 1st round I thought. I had hoped that His Royal Highness would, despite his annual threats to retire, stick around another 2-3 years and that would give Aaron enough time to learn what it takes to be a QB in the NFL.

I was very happy to get Brohm in the 2nd round. Everyone said he would be a high 1st round pick if he went in the draft the year before. I am not a draft expert so that was good enuf for me. Once I figured it would take a couple-three years for him to learn the position but that once he did, he would be a quality backup should anything happen to AR.

Since His Royal Highness had once again decided to (stop me if you have heard this before) retire I knew we needed a 3rd string QB. I will just a little surprised when they grabbed Flynn. I preferred GB pick up a veteran QB to fight with Brohm for the 2nd -3rd string slots but we got Flynn. I know that many a 1st round QB's didn't have what it takes to play in the NFL so one more young arm couldn't hurt. Once again, I do not expect Flynn to be Pro Bowl caliber in his first couple of years and am willing to give him the time to grow.

With a QB surplus, Bucs calling teams about trades

Two NFL sources said the Bucs have been calling teams, willing to listen to offers for Leftwich, McCown or second-year pro Josh Johnson, a player thought of highly internally but who likely wouldnt have great trade value.

The Bills, Packers, Bears and Saints are among the teams that have been closely monitoring backup quarterback possibilities.

Apparently our front office isn't too happy with our back-ups either at this point, if you want to believe this article.

As I said in my last post, I'm not too unhappy with Flynn backing up Rodgers, but I'd be happier with a player like Leftwich. A proven starter. Someone who can move the team and win games.

Biggest problem is, what are you going to do with the rest of the QBs? Trade Brohm (and a 7th) for Leftwich? Trade Flynn for Leftwich and keep grooming Brohm? Maybe just trade a 6th and a 7th or a 5th for Leftwich and try to sneak one on the PS or somethng. All very unlikely scenarios to me.

The Bucs are trying to reduce their numbers at QB.. trading one back won't work.. Brohm has little to no trade value at this point.. cutting him is probably the only option.

Flynn has shown enough to earn a roster spot, but maybe the injury is worse than they are letting on.. Flynn's that is.

Bucs need defensive help.. maybe ship off a linebacker that isn't going to make the cut.

We could do that as well, yes. Was thinking more of a grooming position. Getting a young guy like Brohm or Flynn back would be great for the Bucs, who are trying to regain a good QB. Having two groomable QBs beats one. I recon that they would cut Josh Johnson if they could get Brohm/Flynn when traded for Leftwich. After all, Josh Johnson is mainly Gruden's guy.

But that's a good point. Don't know which LB would be good enough to trade for Leftwich, but bad enough to not be missed for us. In trade value, Bishop might be a guy to trade away, but I really don't want him off our team. And we'd still be stuck with 4 QBs, having to cut one or get one of the PS. Highly unlikely that that'll work. I just don't see a trade working out right now.

I will tell you this much from a personal standpoint... Josh Johnson has more upside to his game than either one of our backups.. IMO.

If they wanted to move Johnson for Brohm.. I would pull the trigger in a heartbeat personally.

They drafted Josh Freeman why would they want a qb to groom they have one? We could always pick up Jeff George lol 😛
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

Zero2Cool (7m) : sounds like Packers don't get good compensation, Jaire staying
dfosterf (3h) : Nobody coming up with a keep, but at x amount
dfosterf (3h) : Trade, cut or keep
dfosterf (4h) : that from Jaire
dfosterf (5h) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (5h) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (5h) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (5h) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (5h) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (5h) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (5h) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (5h) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers
Zero2Cool (5h) : That someone ... likely the agent.
Zero2Cool (5h) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
Zero2Cool (5h) : Demovksy says t was direct communication with someone familiar with Jaire’s line of thinking at that moment.
Zero2Cool (6h) : Demovsky just replied to me a bit ago. Jaire hasn't said it.
dfosterf (7h) : Of course, that depends on the definition of "we"
dfosterf (7h) : We have been told that they haven't because he wouldn't accept it. I submit we don't know that
dfosterf (7h) : What is the downside in making a calculated reduced offer to Jaire?
Zero2Cool (23h) : Packers are receiving interest in Jaire Alexander but a trade is not imminent
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Jalen Ramsey wants to be traded. He's never happy is he?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : two 1sts in 2022 and two 2nd's in 2023 and 2024
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers had fortunate last three drafts.
dfosterf (15-Apr) : I may have to move
dfosterf (15-Apr) : My wife just told the ancient Japanese sushi dude not enough rice under his fish
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I think a dozen is what I need
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Go fund me for this purpose just might work. A dozen nurses show up at 1265 to provide mental health assistance.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Maybe send a crew of Angels to the Packers draft room on draft day.
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I am the Angel that gets visited.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Visiting Angels has a pretty good reputation
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : what
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : WINNING IT, not someone else losing it. The best victory though was re-uniting with his wife
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : The manner in which he won it was just amazing and wonderful. First blowing the lead then getting back, then blowing it. But ultimately
Zero2Cool (12-Apr) : I'm guessing since the thumb was broken, he wasn't feeling it.
dfosterf (10-Apr) : Looking for guidance. Not feeling the thumb.
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : If they knew about it or not
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : I don't recall that he did which is why I asked.
Zero2Cool (10-Apr) : Guessing they probably knew. Did he have cast or something on?
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : Did they know that at the time or was that something the realized afterwards?
Zero2Cool (9-Apr) : Van Ness played most of season with broken thumb
wpr (9-Apr) : yay
Zero2Cool (9-Apr) : Mark Murphy says Steelers likely to protect Packers game. Meaning, no Ireland
Zero2Cool (8-Apr) : Struggling to figure out what text editor options are needed and which are 'nice to have'
Mucky Tundra (8-Apr) : *CHOMP CHOMP CHOMP*
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : WR who said he'd break Xavier Worthy 40 time...and ran slower than you
Mucky Tundra (2-Apr) : Who?
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : Texas’ WR Isaiah Bond is scheduled to visit the Bills, Browns, Chiefs, Falcons, Packers and Titans starting next week.
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : Spotting ball isn't changing, only measuring distance is, Which wasn't the issue.
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : The spotting of the ball IS the issue. Not the chain gang.
Mucky Tundra (2-Apr) : Will there be a tracker on the ball or something?
