I've been wondering about Desmond Bishop and the implications of plugging him in ahead of Hawk. Just a week or two (or three? Can't quite remember, the last few weeks have been kind of a blur), there was an article about Hawk's workout habits and how people have kind of doubted his abilities his whole life.
He's had to go work hard and prove them wrong. This is a man who has historically risen to the challenge of those who bet against him. So, why not bench him?
Give Bishop a fair shot. Get Hawk good and pissed off, and (hopefully) let him rise to the occasion and get a real good competition between the two. Hawk has been the de facto starter since April 29, 2006. Letting Bishop take the field with the 1's on Friday might be the perfect way to light a fire under Hawk's ass.
edit: great article. I agree with your assessment of the coaching staff. The team has been playing with a fire that I haven't seen from them in i-can't-remember how long, and they've been doing it right out of the gates. it's been awesome.
