The D looks great. When will the consistently good play of Bishop and Chillar start to get the attention of the coaches. I guess it all depends on how successful Barnett is upon his return, but I'd take Chillar over Hawk judging by last season and training camp.

hes a big guy, who needs to get more playing time in the next 2 preseason games, he looked good but has to keep playing and gaining the experience to make a impact !!

Don't forget the Detroit Lions went 4-0 in preseason last year. It's cool to get excited, but take the preseason with a grain of salt.

also, dont forget that the lions looked NOTHING like the packers do in their victories...

I agree...there just seems something a lil different about their attitude and how God forsakenly physical they're playing! There seems to be 11 chips on 11 shoulders out there. Always someone around the ball....minus Hawk on that one whif where he just slid right on by.

But yes, very positive and Go Pack, GO!

Ah quite pilling up on on hawk, Harris wiffed on marshan lynch that could have been an eight yard loss.
I say give hawk a chance in the new scheme. I think ultimately it will be barnett as the odd man out in the 3-4 (giving way to bishop)

People are very focused on Hawk. Chillar gave up what I think was the longest pass play against our starting D (edit: it wasn't, but it got them a 1st down on 3rd and šŸ˜Ž. Shit happens.

If Bishop hasn't earned a starting spot at ILB (over Barnett) there is something wrong with the process.

Starters left to right: Kampman, Hawk, Bishop, Chillar. I know Chillar is a long shot at ROL but that's the best lineup IMO.

Not really "piling up" on anyone, but ok.

Overall, I have to say that with our starting CBs in that D looked very, very promising. I'm not thrilled with the injuries @ S, since that's a really key spot to this scheme, but I saw a lot to like.

Overall, I'd say the D line impressed me the most. Raji looked a bit lost in a couple instances, but he was driving OL back and throwing dudes just like in college - once he knows what he's supposed to do, he's going to be worth the wait. Jenkins was solid and disruptive in several instances, Pick was Pick, Jolly turned in some good plays - even the rookie did some nice things.

LBs looked good, overall - very happy with the OLB play so far, and am very interested to see how it looks with Thompson and Matthews in the mix. Personally, I thought Hawk looked good - he was being much more aggressive than against Cleveland, IMO, and it looked good. If he can keep that level of aggression and become assignment-sure, he'll do a great job in the middle for us. I'm a little amused to note that, now that our DBs and guys like Kampy have proved that they can play in this scheme, the new Guy Who Can't Do It is Barnett - as with the other cases, I'll wait to see that before I believe it. I'm definitely on the Bishop bandwagon, though - he's a beast, and really only needs, like Hawk, to be more assignment-sure. That should happen naturally as they become more comfortable in and gain a greater understanding of the scheme.

Overall, and especially to the point that Woody and Al came out, that D looks very promising. And spare me the cliches - I know it's just preseason, and I'm sure the Bills are the crappiest team that ever laced up the cleats, just like the Browns were last week. You play the team that lines up across from you - if you beat them, that's a good thing. If the Packers are good, then they should dominate crappy teams; to date, they have. That's also a good thing.

I am a little worried about S, especially depth @ that position. Collins getting hurt sucks, though I'm glad to hear it isn't serious. Bigby hasn't seemed to show up much, which bothers me. I'm also interested to see how they'll fare against a more elite offense, because while I don't think playing a lower quality team negates a good performance, I do understand that it's not the same as playing the Saints or someone like that.

In all honesty, I think we've got good reason to be optimistic about the defense this year. I really do. They can be good, which should be plenty good enough for our offense.

Great comments by all!
I'm EXCITED about the upcoming season! Our defense looks STOKED!
You can see they are not quite sure what to do with the new scheme. Imagine once they have a few more games under their belts! They are FLYING to the ball.
And our starting offense looks great too! I think we have, for the first time in awhile, a complete team. Both sides of the ball are looking good.
Yes, it's ONLY the preseason. But look how sharp they look at this point. And like i said before, Kampman looks happy, and is all over the place. I remember how many people here were wringing their hands over his being unhappy.
And like bboystyle said, yes, the Lions won their preseason games last year, but the Packers look nothing like the Lions did. We took it too the other team, and smashed them.
I'm stoked for the season!!!

Mucky Tundra (25-Jul) : @AndyHermanNFL Jordy Nelson out at camp today. No word if he’s in play for one of the two open roster spots ; )
dfosterf (25-Jul) : Is that better or worse than Banks bad back?
Zero2Cool (25-Jul) : Savion concussion ... not good.
packerfanoutwest (24-Jul) : Aaron Rodgers’s first pass of first team period was picked off
