thanks. though the system fits favre, i just think it's out of the vikings philosophy to throw the ball 30-40 times a game, which will happen with favre under center.

You're right.. It IS out of the Vikings philosophy to throw 30-40 times a game. Which is why it isn't going to happen. As much as the average NFL fan likes to think this team is now Favre's team.. It isn't. It still is, and will continue to be, Adrian Peterson's team.

Favre came to Minnesota because he won't HAVE to throw 30-40 times a game. Hense the theory of it being a 'match made in heaven'. He'll be asked to make some throws.. but not consistently, like was almost required of him in GB and eventually in NY.

We'll see how this turns out soon enough.

but can he be that q/b that WONT throw?

Just look at how he performed with out Holmgren/Mccarthy

He needs a guy to control him

But as you say we will see

I think Sherman and Rhodes lacked the balls to coral Favre. Favre is a coaches son, he's a fierce competitor and he needs to be coached. That's why I believe he fared so well with McCarthy. I don't remember Sherman ever saying 'we need less interceptions and more smart decisions by our qb position' during the middle of the season.

I have to wonder who would trade for Tavaris Jackson. Philadelphia, maybe? Then they'd have a whole stable of horses.

you guys gotta read what fran tarkenton said about favre. it made me smile.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4409512

"I think he has been a great flamboyant quarterback, but he has made more stupid plays than any great quarterback that I've ever seen. Look at his final game in a Packers uniform. He blew that game [NFC championship] against the Giants," Tarkenton said in late May on KFAN-1130 in the Twin Cities.

"Wouldn't you be upset if you're a Packer fan? I think you're going to have Packer fans burning the No. 4 Favre Green Bay jersey. I think the Packer fans have every right to be outraged."

I'm still puzzled as to how your video is a "digression."

As for Tarkenton's contention that Favre has made more bad plays than any quarterback in history, he's only telling half the story:

You are so misinformed. The Vikings will be worse with Favre?! You must be crazy. Have you even watch the recent Vikings QBs? LOL apparently not. The Packers are in big trouble.

i can't tell if this is a forum for PACKER FANS or a brett favre fan forum, because those are clearly two distinct things.

Jblock, there's a reason why there is a specific Brett Favre sub-forum -- to keep all the Favre talk corralled in one spot, to keep it from sprawling all over the forum. This is, first, foremost, and always a Packers Fan Forum.
