Roundup: Murphy not biting on Vick
A day after GM Ted Thompson passed on a chance to say no to signing Michael Vick, his boss downplayed the chances of the controversial quarterback ending up in Green Bay, according to Press-Gazette business reporter Rich Ryman.
"How do you say it, much ado about nothing," Packers President and CEO Mark Murphy said this morning, during a media conference to announce the Packers' new lottery deal.
"I don't see anything there. I don't anticipate anything happening there."
Murphy emphasized that Thompson's point was the Packers look at everyone, and as I noted yesterday, that's Thompson's philosophy when discussing (or, more accurately, not discussing) personnel decisions.
While Murphy at least stated an opinion on the issue, he stopped short of saying "absolutely not" -- the only response capable of putting this issue entirely to rest, however unlikely a scenario as Vick-to-Green-Bay might be.
