How do you or i know what the wrs will do this year? Did anyone hear of Antonio Freeman, Robert Brooks, Donald Driver before they had their chances to play.

I just don't think they should ever say negative about another team. It really took me by surprise to hear it from Driver, he is usually quiet. It struck me wrong is all, but then again he might be upset that "HIS GUY" will be quarterbacking the Vikes this year :p

You're missing the point that saying a team is one big play receiver away is still a good compliment. Driver didn't say anything nasty nor call anyone out. He said they need receivers. That's it.

If the Bears need that for motivation then their season is already loss.

Anyone thinking that Cutler is going to try to use Drivers comments in the huddle is sorely mistaken, I feel. Remember, these are professionals. There's certain things that ARE bulletin board material and some things that are not.

Now, if it was Charles Woodson or Al Harris, etc saying it, I could see the huddle comment being valid. But a WR stating the obvious? No, not at all.

What's he going to say in the huddle? "Hey guys, that WR over there on the sideline, lets show him just how good you are! cmon guys! TUrn your madden rating of 75 to 98!! lets go boys!!" ... no, not happening.

Bulletin board material. Pre-game trash talk. Guaranteeing a win. Jessica Simpson.

What do these have in common? All are thought to have an impact. All are created (or at least perpetuated) by the media.

If you wanna focus on crap like that, go for it -- but I think (and history is on my side) it's a waste of time. None of it means a damn thing. Green Bay and Chicago will play twice and when all eight quarters of football are done I'm pretty sure the successes -- or lack thereof -- will have little to do with Driver's comments.

Moving on.

dudes....

jfc. i can't believe you guys sometimes. IT'S THE BEARS. forget about the recent Vikings trend in our "rivalry" but to this 32 year old, it's still the fucking bears. and yeah...i think we have the right to talk a little shit because...mmmmm, well...aside from the Sox vs Yanks i can't think of a more legendary rivalry.

don't mistake humility for respectability. it ain't always the case.

I agree with Twinkiegorilla.

Really? Remember... Every comment over time becomes a "They Said" from it's original "He Said."

If he is a good communicator/motivator in the huddle he will use it..

Third and 8 at the Packers 42 yard line:

Bears enter the huddle.

CUTLER:

"All right, all right ... Shut up. We can do this!"

"Zebra Slot Right... Orange Boy... On Three."

"Listen Listen... Remember.. They said you are the weakest link."

"YOU CAN DO IT" "YOU CAN DO IT... SHOW THEM NOW."

"ZEBRA SLOT RIGHT ORANGE BOY... ON THREE..... BREAK!"

Ohhh I beg to differ. He will use it. It may be subtle, but he will use it.

This is why I'm not as pissed when all the news agencies rate our team and players not that high; like our passing game, our or QB or our defense etc ...
least I'm hoping it gives our guys some motivation to show these peeps what real nfl players are about.

I do agree that our players dont need much motivation when facing the bears ... well maybe the new guys (they dont know what its like).

I got respect for any GB fans that live near chicago.

lol its not going to be used as bulletin board material because, its not! And it's not going to be used in the huddle because the QB is going to be far smarter than to try an twist these comments into something they are not. We miss football, that's obvious, but it doesn't mean we need to blow things out of proportion.

Here in Chicago everyone is talking about their lack of proven WR corp and their issues with the safety position. I can see how Driver's statement can be looked at either way. I actually don't mind bulletin board material at all, if somehow that piece of motivation helps the team beat us, then we shouldn't have beat them anyways. I want to play the best and beat the best. I say challenge them.

Called in this question to the Waddle and Silvy show on ESPN 1000. Waiting to hear what the Bears analysts think about his comments.

beast (8h) : Also why do both NYC teams have absolutely horrible OL for over a decade?
beast (8h) : I wonder why the Jets always hire defensive coaches to be head coach
Zero2Cool (18h) : Still HC positions available out there. I wonder if Hafley pops up for one
Zero2Cool (18h) : Trent Baalke is out as the Jaguars GM.
dfosterf (20h) : Jeff Hafley would have been a better choice, fortunately they don't know that. Someone will figure that out next off season
Zero2Cool (21h) : Aaron Glenn Planning To Take Jets HC Job

Zero2Cool (22h) : Thank you. I rarely get sick, and even more rarely sick to the point I can't work.
wpr (22h) : Beast- back to yesterday, I CAN say OSU your have been Michigan IF the odds of making the playoffs were more urgent.

Zero2Cool (23h) : I've been near death ill last several days, finally feel less dead and site issues.
Zero2Cool (23h) : It is a big deal. This host is having issues. It's frustrating.
Martha Careful (23h) : just kidding...it was down
Martha Careful (23h) : you were blocked yesterday, due to a a recalcitrant demeanor yesterday in the penalty box for a recalcitrant demeanor
dfosterf (23h) : Was that site shutdown on your end or mine? No big deal, just curious
beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (21-Jan) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (21-Jan) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : A great game. Give ND credit for coming back, although I am please with the outcome.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : FG to make it academic

Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Ooooo that completion makes things VERY interesting
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Game not over yet
beast (21-Jan) : Oh yeah, Georgia starting quarterback season ending elbow injury
beast (21-Jan) : Sadly something happened to Georgia... they should be playing in this game against Ohio State
beast (21-Jan) : I thought Ohio State and Texas were both better than Notre Dame & Penn State
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame getting rolled
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : Ohio State just got punched in the gut. Lets see how they respond
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame vs the Luckeyes, bleh
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Oh snap!!!
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : Even Stevie Wonder can see that.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : Nah, you see Lions OC leaving to be HC of Bears is directly related to Packers.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ohhhhhhh Zero is in TROUBLE
packerfanoutwest (21-Jan) : Zero, per your orders, check Bearshome, not packershome
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : Then he'll land with another team and flourish.
