I would rather serve 23 months in jail then lose my right to drive a car FOR LIFE.

He lost his right to EVER drive again. HE NEVER CAN EVEN DRIVE TO THE STORE AGAIN FOR A CARTON OF MILK AGAIN... FOR LIFE. That is interesting.

He also got 2 years house arrest. That means for two years he will have a GPS clamped on his ankle and can not leave his home. I do not give a rat's ass how comfortable my sofa is.. That is a pain in the ass.

REMEMBER... He was just a tad over the limit, Barely over the limit, not shit faced drunk. Who here has never driven in that condition? PLUS... The guy he hit was crossing the street where he should not have been crossing.

THE BOTTOM LINE IS THIS.... The family of the victim is happy and satisfied with the punishment, and settlement financially. That is important.

He was not a bad dude. Factors in the sentence were his character and his contribution to the community before this accident.

he actually only completely loses his license for 5 years - then he'll be allowed a "work permit" so to speak.

I disagree with many of your points, RP. According to PFT (which is run by a lawyer, mind you), he will be eligible in 5 years to possibly begin driving again for things work related. That one stipulation has lots of possibilities. Second, yes, he is on house arrest for two years. Yes, that would be a pain in the ass. Nothing compared to the pain in the ass that comes from a prison stay (pun intended). Third, he was not just a tad over. the limit was .08, and he was at .127, which is far more than just a tad over. My buddy got put on house arrest for two years with random breathalyzer calls. Their was a breathalyzer attached to his phone and he had to blow into it 2-10 times a day. He also got his license suspended for three years. His blood alcohol was .13. His punishment was on the same level as Stalworth's in my opinion, and my buddy didn't even KILL ANYONE. Bottom line is, he was driving drunk and hit a man with his car and killed him. HE FUCKING KILLED A GUY WHILE DRIVING DRUNK!

preach it, bozz!!

the ex has 3 dui's - he got sentenced to 10 days in jail - served 3 & $2500 in fines. he'll have a lifetime suspension of his CDL. regular driving privileges is supposed to be for 10 years but i doubt that'll hold - we'll see. if the 10 year revocation holds, the twins will be driving before he does.

oh & the state of illinois may have the toughest dui laws but we need the judges & prosecutors to uphold those laws!!

This is a clear illustration of the cracks in the legal system in this country, it revolves more around money and fame than in truth and justice.

I will plead my guilt that I have driven impaired and the excuses are nothing more than excuses. I took a risk on not only my own well being but that of others, I made a unwise choice. But it was a choice no lesser than to pull a trigger or do the unthinkable in taking another's life.

So if I or another takes a life while driving impaired, how is that any less of a crime? It might not have been the intent, but the "choice" helped lead to a loss of life.

And that amounts to 30 days in jail, a couple of years of restricted rights and a large chunk of cash being paid to the family. Kind of sad that it has become a reality.

technically he's only serving 24 days in jail - heard that as well.

i find it interesting that the family took a settlement to avoid further pain.

while i can completely understand what they're saying & going thru (lost a family member to a drunk driver) i think this speaks volumes about the media, professional athletes, & the legal system.

when a family is too "scared" of what the media might put them through & are willing to sacrifice a more harsh sentence because of it, i find incredulous.

i'm not saying i blame the family for doing this - i just find it unbelievable that because of the power of the media, professional athletes have become all but untouchable in our legal system.

these people were caught between a rock & a hard place - i'd like to think i would have told stallworth where to shove his settlement & taken the sorry SOB to the court system but i can honestly understand their predicament.

it's just sad to me.

The guy earned a $4.5M roster bonus and couldn't afford to take a cab.

The guy might be a "nice guy", but his actions killed someone. Maybe if he hadn't been drunk, maybe he would have reacted faster and not killed the guy.
Maybe alot of it was the guy who got killed own fault for crossing in the wrong spot. And maybe had Stalworth not been drinking, maybe he would have been found not at fault. But the being legally drunk part sealed the guilt against him.
It's a shame, for sure. But Stalworth made the choice to drink and drive. No one forced him.
Who knows HOW many other times he drank and then drove, and got away with it?
If you play, sometimes you pay.
My wife's cousin was killed by a drunk driver. And the drunk wasn't rich, so her family got NOTHING.

Right on Raider. I feel the same way.

And Stallworth said something I saw on the ticker that confirmed(for me at least) he was sorry...

beast (13h) : 6 days
wpr (17-Apr) : 7 days
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : sounds like Packers don't get good compensation, Jaire staying
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Nobody coming up with a keep, but at x amount
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Trade, cut or keep
dfosterf (16-Apr) : that from Jaire
dfosterf (16-Apr) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : That someone ... likely the agent.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovksy says t was direct communication with someone familiar with Jaire’s line of thinking at that moment.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovsky just replied to me a bit ago. Jaire hasn't said it.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Of course, that depends on the definition of "we"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : We have been told that they haven't because he wouldn't accept it. I submit we don't know that
dfosterf (16-Apr) : What is the downside in making a calculated reduced offer to Jaire?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers are receiving interest in Jaire Alexander but a trade is not imminent
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Jalen Ramsey wants to be traded. He's never happy is he?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : two 1sts in 2022 and two 2nd's in 2023 and 2024
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers had fortunate last three drafts.

dfosterf (14-Apr) : Go fund me for this purpose just might work. A dozen nurses show up at 1265 to provide mental health assistance.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Maybe send a crew of Angels to the Packers draft room on draft day.
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I am the Angel that gets visited.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Visiting Angels has a pretty good reputation
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : what
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : WINNING IT, not someone else losing it. The best victory though was re-uniting with his wife
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : The manner in which he won it was just amazing and wonderful. First blowing the lead then getting back, then blowing it. But ultimately

dfosterf (10-Apr) : Looking for guidance. Not feeling the thumb.
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : If they knew about it or not
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : I don't recall that he did which is why I asked.
Zero2Cool (10-Apr) : Guessing they probably knew. Did he have cast or something on?
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : Did they know that at the time or was that something the realized afterwards?
Zero2Cool (9-Apr) : Van Ness played most of season with broken thumb
wpr (9-Apr) : yay
Zero2Cool (9-Apr) : Mark Murphy says Steelers likely to protect Packers game. Meaning, no Ireland
Zero2Cool (8-Apr) : Struggling to figure out what text editor options are needed and which are 'nice to have'
Mucky Tundra (8-Apr) : *CHOMP CHOMP CHOMP*
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : WR who said he'd break Xavier Worthy 40 time...and ran slower than you
